Technical Designer (San Francisco, CA)

Our Customer is an American worldwise clothing and accessories retailer, founded in 1969. Over the last 50 years, the company has grown from a single store to a global fashion business with seven brands. Their clothes are availabile in 90 countries worldwide through over 3,100 company-operated stores, almost 400 franchise stores, and e-commerce sites and is still growing. We are seeking a Technical Designer on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is on-site in San Francisco, CA. Responsibilities Maintain and execute design aesthetics through consistent garment fit and construction aligned with customer needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and vendors throughout the product creation process. Translate design concepts into technical specifications for costing and prototype development. Support fit camps and maintain customer fit consistency across product categories. Troubleshoot and communicate garment fit issues and recommend solutions. Assess fit, construction, and quality risks throughout development processes. Ensure physical and digital samples comply with brand standards and quality expectations. Support fit and construction consistency across product development workflows. Analyze fit-related data and relatively complex situations to recommend effective solutions. Partner with design and production teams to support successful product execution. Skills And Qualifications Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, alterations, and grading. Experience with fit, construction, and quality standards. Understanding of brand, customer, and cost requirements within apparel product development. Experience using PLM software or Tech Pack Management systems. Experience translating design concepts into technical specifications and prototypes. Ability to identify and troubleshoot fit and construction issues. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to assess complex fit and product development situations and recommend solutions. Strong collaboration and communication skills with cross-functional teams and vendors. Experience ensuring physical and digital samples meet brand standards. Familiarity with digital product development workflows. Preferred Qualifications Experience with PLM software, preferably Centric. Foundational knowledge of 3D rendering and/or digital pattern software. Strong experience with garment construction and patternmaking. We offer a competitive salary range for this position.
