Veterinary Assistant

First Capitol Animal Hospital is seeking an experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our team and support both outpatient care and procedural services, including surgery and dentistry. We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value experienced technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care. In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit. In this position, you will take an active role in: Assisting veterinarians with surgical and dental procedures Monitoring patients throughout anesthesia and recovery Performing dental prophylaxis and dental radiography Preparing patients, equipment, and treatment areas for procedures Maintaining accurate surgical and treatment records Guiding clients through patient admission and discharge with confidence and compassion Providing support for exams and outpatient procedures outside of surgical schedules Supporting efficient workflow by anticipating the needs of patients and the veterinary team Responsibilities include: Supporting efficient exam room and outpatient workflow to ensure exceptional patient and client care Maintaining accurate, thorough medical records and treatment documentation Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately Supporting veterinarians during outpatient procedures and treatments while providing high-quality patient care Building positive relationships with clients through education, communication, and attentive service Schedule and compensation: Compensation: $18 - $22 per hour, for each hour worked This is a full-time position, with availability needed Monday-Saturday.
