Senior HVAC Technician
Under general supervision, performs journey-level, skilled work in the installation, maintenance, repair, alteration, and replacement of commercial and industrial refrigeration, heating, ventilation, and central plant air conditioning systems and components while also utilizing building automation platforms to optimize performance and providing work direction, on the job training, and guidance to skilled trade and operational support staff.
The Senior HVAC Technician is distinguished from HVAC Technician in that the Senior HVAC Technician not only performs the routinely assigned duties of the HVAC Technician but also serves in a lead capacity to provide work direction, on the job training, and guidance to skilled trade and operational support staff. An HVAC Technician is expected to utilize building automation and management software for diagnostics and adjusting settings, but a Senior HVAC Technician uses those platforms to analyze data, integrate components, and set parameters to improve efficiency. Additionally, while an HVAC Technician can perform preventative maintenance and routine service on a chilled water system, a Senior HVAC Technician is responsible for the installation, repair, and replacement of chilled water systems.
Minimum Qualifications: EXPERIENCE: Two years of journey-level experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of a chilled water central plant in addition to utilizing building automation or management systems to monitor, troubleshoot, and control HVAC equipment.
