Staff Mechanical EngineerWe are seeking an experienced Staff Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, development, testing, documentation, and production of high-volume wireless security camera products for retail and small business markets.In this role, you will serve as a technical leader within the Product Design team, driving mechanical design programs from concept through pilot, mass production, and beyond. You will lead the design and tooling of plastic and metal enclosures for wireless security camera products intended for residential and small to medium office environments.The successful candidate will have deep consumer electronics and product design experience, strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, and a proven ability to lead complex programs while balancing performance, cost, schedule, manufacturability, and aesthetics. This role will work closely with Industrial Design, Product Marketing, Operations, suppliers, and ODM partners, with manufacturing primarily conducted in Asia.Please provide a portfolio demonstrating process, development, and end results, including tangible examples that showcase your contributions, teamwork, technical capabilities, and results.What You'll DoLead mechanical product design, evaluation, testing, performance validation, documentation, and production activitiesDrive mechanical design programs from concept through pilot, mass production, and ongoing product supportDesign and develop plastic and metal enclosures for high-volume wireless security camera productsPartner closely with Product Design, Operations, Product Marketing, Industrial Design, and ODM teams to develop new products and customize existing productsProvide technical leadership to ensure project performance, cost, quality, and schedule objectives are achievedLead issue identification, tracking, troubleshooting, and resolution throughout the product development lifecycleWork closely with second- and third-tier suppliers to develop and deliver mechanical components and assembliesManage external consultants, fabrication vendors, and other technical resources as neededPerform or support engineering analysis, including thermal, stress, and tolerance analysisDevelop and maintain mechanical design documentation and specificationsApply design-for-manufacturing principles to support high-volume, low-cost productionCollaborate with manufacturing and ODM partners to address tooling, production, quality, and engineering issuesBalance mechanical performance and manufacturability with product aesthetics and Industrial Design requirementsCommunicate mechanical design concepts, technical decisions, project status, risks, and recommendations to a diverse group of stakeholdersTravel internationally as required, approximately 10–15%What You BringBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from an accredited university8+ years of experience in product design and/or mechanical engineering within high-end consumer electronics, smart devices, IoT, connected home, or a similar consumer-oriented industryAlternatively, 5+ years of relevant experience with a master's degreeStrong mechanical engineering fundamentalsDeep experience in consumer electronics and product designProven ability to lead programs, take ownership, and drive complex issues through resolutionExperience working closely with Industrial Design teams while balancing functionality, aesthetics, and product ecosystemsExtensive and recent 3D CAD experience, preferably with Creo or SolidWorks; experience with other CAD tools may also be consideredRecent CAD experience, including complex surfacing, within the last 5 yearsExperience designing cameras or camera-related productsAdvanced expertise in plastic injection-molded part designExperience designing outdoor and weatherproof enclosuresWorking knowledge of die casting, adhesives, stamping, machining, and rapid prototypingStrong understanding of tolerance analysisExperience designing progressive-die sheet metal partsExtensive experience designing high-volume, low-cost products with production volumes exceeding 1 million units per yearProven experience successfully leading products through pilot, mass production, and beyondStrong leadership, organizational, and project management skillsAbility to work independently with minimal supervision and take ownership for delivering resultsStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical concepts to diverse stakeholdersSelf-starter who works effectively in a collaborative team environmentStrong sensitivity to product design aestheticsBonus Points If You HaveFluency in MandarinExperience working directly with ODM partners and overseas manufacturing teamsExperience managing external engineering consultants or fabrication vendorsTCWGlobal is an equal opportunity employer.
