Registered Nurse RN PACU/Recovery Room

Job Description Registered Nurse Surgical Admit & Recovery – St. Joseph’s Health. Responsible for high‑quality nursing care to patients before and after surgical procedures, ensuring safe transitions between preoperative and post‑anesthesia care phases. PACU hours 6am‑11:30pm with on‑call requirement and one weekend every fourth weekend. Full‑time, 40‑hour day/evening rotating shift. Responsibilities Assess and prepare patients for surgery, review medical history, administer preoperative medications, monitor patients in the Pre‑Op area, ensuring they are stable and ready for surgery. Provide immediate post‑anesthesia care, monitor vital signs, and assess for complications. Educate patients and families on post‑operative care, discharge instructions, and recovery expectations. Apply strong assessment, critical thinking, and patient advocacy skills in a fast‑paced environment and respond quickly to changing patient conditions. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university nursing program (BSN preferred). Licensure: Current RN licensure in New York. Certification: BLS/CPR; CNOR or CPAN certification a plus. Experience: 1‑2 years in Pre‑Op, PACU, or Surgical/Perioperative Nursing.
