Facilities Operations Technician

Job Overview Facilities Operations Technician – Supports building operations and maintenance of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and other facilities equipment. Monitors building management system software, triages and responds to incidents and alarms, conducts facility walks, performs repairs, installs lab gases, supports space planning and furniture installations, and handles other duties with minimal supervision. Key Duties and Responsibilities Monitor building management system software and triage/respond to incidents and alarms Conduct facility walks to identify and correct issues Perform maintenance or repair of building equipment, machinery, and lab equipment Install lab gases and/or connections, manage MEP requirements for lab spaces Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, manage vendors to ensure budget adherence Demonstrate proficiency in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, light carpentry, patching & painting Troubleshoot and repair HVAC, plumbing, mechanical systems and equipment Maintain stock, tools, and supply areas, ensuring clean and organized work sites Collaborate with EHSS, Lab Operations and Labs Services team members Perform daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance rounds of building, mechanical areas, and parking garage Document tasks in a timely manner Reconfigure office furniture, set up rooms, and support events Coordinate vendor support and verify completion of work Knowledge and Skills Works in a cross‑functional and matrixed team Provides highest level of customer support and service Proficient in HVAC, plumbing, electrical trades Technically skilled in planning and completing building-related repairs Learns and applies new skills, technology, and maintenance procedures after training Familiar with department procedures and processes Proficient with basic MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) Professional verbal and written communication skills Follows directions; seeks information when uncertain Operates forklift, scissor lift, and pallet jack Implements safe work practices and complies with relevant regulations Education and Experience Minimum high school graduate; secondary education or trade certification preferred 2‑3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience Certificate or associated Facilities coursework preferred Pay Range and Benefits Pay Range: $27 – $40 per hour. Eligible for annual bonus and equity awards; may also be eligible for overtime pay in accordance with federal and state requirements.
