Course Description Surveys the history, cultural and political dimensions, and impact of children's and young adult literature, including picture books, chapter books, graphic novels, and young adult novels. Focuses on the importance of works by Indigenous authors and illustrators who support the growth and understanding of tribal sovereignty. Analyses of award‑winning, classic, and popular books will create awareness of the pitfalls and possibilities of children's books and how books can shape peoples' behaviors and decision‑making as adults, especially for those in positions to influence governmental and industry policy that impact American Indian nations and communities. Minimum Qualifications A master's degree or equivalent in American Indian Studies or related discipline Per the California State University's Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications Higher Education teaching experience preferred. Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full‑time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full‑time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full‑time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience. #J-18808-Ljbffr IMDiversity
