Description The Garza Law Firm’s Social Security Disability Attorney is a position supporting the Social Security Disability (SSD) division of the Firm. The SSD Attorney exists to provide our clients with legal assistance and guidance through the SSD application and appeal processes. This position collaborates with clients, attorneys, and fellow team members to be a driving force to ensure our clients’ voices are heard and their lives are restored. This position oversees and manages the SSD Team to coordinate meetings with new clients, review necessary medical records, and prepare for and hold hearings. This position requires a Juris Doctorate (J.D.) degree, admission to the Tennessee State Bar, and good standing with the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility. Requirements Responsibilities SSD Legal Practice: Personally handle all SSD cases from initial new client meetings through the hearing and federal court levels. Handle extensive client interaction, including intake review and ongoing client contact. Prepare clients for hearings, appear before Administrative Law Judges, hold initial conferences, manage case development, and appellate advocacy on behalf of disabled clients. SSD Division Collaboration & Training: Coordinate with the SSD Operations Manager and SSD Client Care Manager to support case progression, client communication, and effective team workflows. Provide legal guidance and training within the scope of the Attorney’s role to case managers and legal assistants regarding case development, medical records, appeals, briefs, and other legal matters. Collaborate with the SSD team and Leadership to address workflow issues and support efficient operations and successful outcomes for our clients. Reporting/Analysis: Work with firm management to analyze and report on revenue and general expenses of the SSD Division. Case Documentation: Monitor case documentation via Filevine Tasks to ensure case files are properly maintained, and tasks are completed on time. Work Experience Required: Proficient with Microsoft 365 Suite applications. Familiarity with various software and systems used for case and client management (e.g. Filevine, Chronicle, Vine Sign, Law Pay, Lead Docket, DocGen, etc.). Preferred: 1-3 years of experience working in a small to medium law firm. 1-3 years of experience representing claimants before the Social Security Administration Office of Hearings Operations or experience as a licensed attorney preparing for, or participating in, and/or reviewing formal hearings or trial involving litigation and/or administration law. Education / Certifications / Other Qualifications / Success Traits Required: Must possess a Juris Doctoral degree, be licensed to practice law in the State of Tennessee and be registered as a representative with the Social Security Administration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills used in a professional setting. Professionally represents Garza Law Firm during all interactions with the public. Can handle large volumes of work in a high-paced work environment. Periodic travel to various counties for legal hearings.
