Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL), a world-renowned biomedical research institution, is seeking a full-time Groundskeeper to support the upkeep and beautification of our campus. This hands-on role is ideal for someone with a passion for landscaping, horticulture, and working outdoors in a collaborative environment. As part of our Facilities team, you will play a key role in maintaining our grounds year-round—helping ensure our campus remains a safe, welcoming, and inspiring place for groundbreaking research.Position ResponsibilitiesMows, weeds, edges, and otherwise maintains lawns.Trims, transplants, and maintains shrubs, hedges, and trees.Removes snow and ice from roads and walkways.Excavates and fills in trenches, pits, and wells under direct supervision.Operates mowers, trimmers, snow blowers, leaf blowers, chainsaws, and other types of landscaping equipment.Operates heavy equipment such as backhoes, tractors, and forklifts.Applies fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides under direction of the Grounds Foreman.Plants trees, garden beds, and shrubbery under the direction of the Grounds Foreman.Performs other general labor tasks as assigned by the Grounds Foreman.Position RequirementsEDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent.EXPERIENCE: A working knowledge of horticulture and two years groundskeeping experience is preferred.SKILLS: Must be able to operate equipment generally used in grounds maintenance.
