Founded in 2018, the company is fundamentally changing the way humanity is powering our world and storing clean energy with breakthrough lithium-ion technology and energy storage solutions.Job Description: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Instrumentation and Controls Engineer to join our innovative engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of instrumentation and control systems for various industrial applications. This role requires a strong understanding of control theory, process instrumentation, and system integration.Key Responsibilities:Work on a team of experienced EnergyX engineers on projects focused on disruptive materials and engineering systems to fundamentally transform scientific aspects of the energy industry including:Design and Development:Design and build E&I and control systems, including panel wiring, PLC programming, HMI development, and SCADA development and integration.Develop instrumentation specifications and selection criteria for various projects.Create and review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) and control schematics.Develop data visualization from MySQL databases in platforms such as Ignition, Grafana, or similar.Testing and Commissioning:Conduct factory acceptance tests (FAT) and site acceptance tests (SAT) for control systems.Integrate control systems with existing infrastructure and ensure seamless operation.Perform commissioning electrical work including sensor addition, sensor validation, and motor wiring.Perform general system commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting.Project Management:Prepare project documentation, including control narratives, functional specifications, and user manuals.Compliance and Standards:Ensure all instrumentation and control designs comply with industry standards and safety regulations.Stay updated with the latest advancements in control technology and best practices.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.Minimum of 5 years of experience in instrumentation and control engineering, in an industrial setting.Proficiency in PLC programming (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, OPTO22, Schneider, or Mitsubishi) PLC/HMI systems.Strong understanding of process instrumentation, control theory, and automation systems.Experience with Ignition software including server commissioning, PLC communication, tag historian, and HMI design.Experience with OPC UA and/or Modbus communication protocolsExcellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.25% travel is requiredCertifications:NFPA 70E electrical training is required.Preferred Requirements:Experience with DCS (Distributed Control Systems) and advanced control strategies.Familiarity with Linux based server commissioningKnowledge of cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.Familiarity with industry standards such as ISA, IEC, and NFPA.Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, or MATLAB for control applications.Certification in control systems or instrumentation (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician) is a plus.What We Offer
