Communications Specialist- Bilingual Spanish/English

Job Description Job Description Job Overview We are seeking a Communication Specialist (Spanish & English) to support our team in facilitating clear communication across departments. This role involves assisting with conversations between Spanish-speaking individuals and English-speaking staff or clients, ensuring that information is exchanged accurately and effectively. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling a variety of communication needs, including calls and real-time support, while maintaining professionalism and cultural sensitivity. This position plays an important role in helping our organization create an inclusive environment where diverse groups can connect and collaborate successfully. Duties Handle client communications, respond to inquiries, and assist in resolving issues. Serve as the first point of contact for the client services/communications department. Provide interpretation support to help staff understand client needs and concerns. Review documents to ensure accuracy, proper terminology, and compliance with program directives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive client support. Translate and transcribe information accurately and in a timely manner. Escalate complex issues to the appropriate department when needed. Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information while upholding ethical standards. Stay informed on program requirements, directives, and objectives to ensure service quality. Work collaboratively within a team environment, adapting quickly to changing needs and priorities. Qualifications Professional fluency in Spanish and English (both spoken and written); ability to translate and interpret with clarity and accuracy. Strong English writing and editing skills with attention to detail and professionalism. Ability to interpret colloquial expressions, slang, and coded language while conveying the intended meaning in English. Experience translating both complex technical content and informal communications. Demonstrated ability to interpret complex concepts accurately while maintaining the original message’s intent. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with documentation review processes and compliance standards (experience with government-regulated processes preferred). Relevant professional interpretation or translation experience (experience working with diverse, immigrant, or refugee populations is highly valued). Cultural awareness, sensitivity, and ability to build trust with clients and colleagues. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage sensitive information confidentially.
