Senior Project Development Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Project Development Engineer to join our Public Sector Southwest team. This role will be in ESG Southwest's Littleton, Colorado office. The position can be hybrid; the candidate should reside in Colorado and be willing to travel up to 35%, including overnight stays. Responsibilities Support with developing and executing the company's overall mission, values, and strategic goals Prioritize objectives and implement strategies to achieve company initiatives Identify opportunities to maximize operating performance and achieve financial goals Contribute to innovations, strategic project development, and the profitability of the company Drive collaboration across the organization to identify needs and develop scalable solutions Find ways to save company money by improving and streamlining internal systems or procedures Participate in internal risk mitigation meetings across the organization Serve as a role model and mentor to junior engineers; invest in their development Coordinate and perform ASHRAE Levels 1, 2 & 3 Commercial Building Energy Audits Identify opportunities for energy and water conservation, on‑site power generation, and resource conservation Prepare project feasibility assessments, scopes of work, savings calculations, draft M&V plans, and investment‑grade audit reports Serve as a technical resource in communications and presentations with the client Review, analyze and prepare conceptual and detailed design documents, bid documents, cost estimates, drawings, and specifications for facility improvement measures (FIMs) Coordinate with vendors and installation contractors for scoping and pricing of proposed FIMs Support engineering activities during project development, construction, commissioning, and operations, including savings calculations, proposals, reports, cost estimates, and presentations Develop, implement, and enforce company‑wide engineering and project development best practices Gather and evaluate historic utility information to establish accurate baseline facility performance Perform cost savings calculations, life‑cycle cost analysis, and other project financial evaluations Generate accurate energy models when appropriate Carefully review submittals from vendors and subcontractors Assist in proper equipment selection Assist in the development of project Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans Attend project meetings as appropriate Serve as a peer reviewer for calculations, estimates, and scopes prepared by engineering team members Maintain awareness of new technologies, strategies, industry developments, and standards Participate in local industry organizations (e.g., AEE, ASHRAE) and encourage community involvement Maintain knowledge of building and energy codes that impact our core business Demonstrate problem‑solving skills, address escalating issues promptly, and respect colleagues at all levels Develop relationships with vendors, contractors, and other partners supporting our projects Consistently meet internal and external deadlines Ensure company policies and procedures are followed Promote an injury‑free work environment Promote continuous improvement efforts Other duties as assigned Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field Five (5) or more years of industry experience Professional Engineer (PE) license Certified Energy Manager (CEM) preferred Extensive knowledge of performance contracting, design‑build construction, and delivery of projects to the MUSH market Superior written and verbal communication skills Innovative and motivational mindset Excellent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills Confident and goal‑oriented Ability to travel up to 35% Benefits Professional growth and development programs Health, dental, and vision insurance for employee and family Life insurance, short‑term disability, long‑term disability, and supplemental benefits 401(k) Savings Plan Paid holidays Paid vacation and personal/sick leave Paid parental leave for birth, adoption, or placement of a child Highly competitive salaries and incentive structure Salary range: $110,000 to $165,000, commensurate with experience Equity Statement ESG is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer that prohibits discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, veteran status, or disability.
