Job Description

This role focuses on assembling critical components of firetrucks, including wiring, electronics, plumbing, and mechanical systems. You will use a variety of hand and power tools to install and secure parts, following detailed shop orders, blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings to ensure each truck is built safely, accurately, and to specification.

Responsibilities

• Assemble firetruck components by installing wiring, electronics, plumbing, and mechanical parts according to shop orders and technical documentation.
• Interpret and follow blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings to correctly position and install components.
• Use hand tools and power tools to fasten, adjust, and secure parts during mechanical and hydraulic assembly.
• Measure and mark materials accurately using a tape measure to ensure proper fit and alignment.
• Perform basic electrical and wiring tasks as part of the overall assembly process.
• Install and connect plumbing and pneumatic components as required for firetruck systems.
• Conduct basic preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to keep them in safe working condition.
• Collaborate with team members on the production floor to meet quality standards and production goals.
• Inspect completed work to verify proper installation, functionality, and adherence to safety and quality requirements.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in an open-air manufacturing environment.

Essential Skills

• Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with experience in mechanical assembly.
• Proficiency using hand tools and power tools in a manufacturing or construction environment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
• Experience with electrical work, including basic wiring and installation.
• Experience with plumbing assembly and installation.
• Familiarity with hydraulics and pneumatic systems in an assembly setting.
• Accurate measurement skills using a tape measure.
• Understanding of basic preventive maintenance practices for tools and equipment.
• Ability to follow detailed shop orders and work instructions.
• Capability to work safely and efficiently in a production environment.

• Background in construction, manufacturing, or related mechanical trades.
• Comfort working with power tools for extended periods.

Work Environment

The role is based in an open-air manufacturing facility that can be hot during the summer and cold during the winter, so appropriate work attire for varying temperatures is important. The standard schedule is first shift, Monday through Thursday, from 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Voluntary overtime is typically available, often worked on Friday and/or Saturday from 5:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., with occasional opportunities to stay late during the week. The environment is production-focused, with regular use of hand tools, power tools, and mechanical equipment on the shop floor.

Job Type & Location: This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Ocala, FL.

Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $16.50 - $16.50/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
