Center-Based Behavior Analyst (BCBA)

Position Summary The Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a clinical front‑line position responsible for maintaining an active caseload consisting of children and teenagers with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder), providing supervision and direct services at our center‑based program, Collective ABA. This role develops, implements, and continuously modifies individualized treatment plans based on functional behavior assessments and ongoing data analysis. The Behavior Analyst provides clinical supervision to behavior technicians and RBT‑level staff, maintains full responsibility for clinical documentation and treatment integrity, and delivers competency‑based training to ensure treatment fidelity. This role serves as the primary clinical point of contact for families and caregivers, conducting parent training and coordinating with schools and external providers to ensure consistency of care across environments. This is an exempt position reporting to the ABA Clinical Director with no direct reports, though clinical supervision of technicians and RBT‑level staff is required per BACB standards. Reporting Structure Reports To: ABA Clinical Director, Behavioral Services Direct Reports: None Leadership and Team Scope The Behavior Analyst operates as the clinical lead for assigned cases, maintaining an active caseload while providing clinical supervision to behavior technicians and RBT‑level staff. Clinical supervision averages approximately 20% of client service time per case as clinically required per BACB standards. The position coordinates with the ABA Clinical Director, other BCBAs, and interdisciplinary teams including schools and external providers to ensure consistency of care across all environments. There is no additional clinical layer between the Behavior Analyst and supervised staff; all clinical guidance, performance feedback, and skill development are owned by this role. Budget Authority None. This is an individual contributor role with no budget authority. Location and Work Schedule Primary Location: Trumbull, Connecticut Work Model: In Person. Schedule: Flexible and operationally determined based on client needs, session scheduling, and clinical coverage. The role may require early mornings and/or evenings, to accommodate family schedules and maintain service continuity. No overnight shifts are required. Key Accountabilities Maintain an active clinical caseload, providing supervision for a minimum of 20 hours weekly, and provide direct ABA services to clients as clinically indicated. Develop, implement, and continuously modify individualized treatment plans based on functional behavior assessments and ongoing data analysis. Conduct functional behavior assessments and other clinical evaluations to inform treatment planning and guide clinical decision-making. Analyze and interpret client data to make ongoing clinical adjustments to programming and treatment protocols. Monitor progress across all skill acquisition and behavior reduction programs and adjust treatment accordingly. Ensure all clinical programming is evidence-based, ethical, and aligned with Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) standards. Maintain full responsibility for clinical documentation, treatment integrity, and accuracy of client records per agency and regulatory standards. Provide ongoing supervision to behavior technicians and RBT‑level staff in accordance with BACB supervision requirements. Deliver supervision averaging approximately 20% of client service time per case as clinically required and mandated by BACB standards. Conduct performance feedback, coaching, and skill development for all direct service staff providing client care. Ensure staff adherence to treatment protocols, clinical procedures, and behavior intervention plans through ongoing monitoring and feedback. Conduct parent training sessions and caregiver education to support generalization and treatment consistency across environments. Provide ongoing clinical guidance and behavior support strategies to caregivers and family members. Serve as primary clinical point of contact for parent communication regarding treatment progress, behavioral concerns, and service planning. Attend and participate in school‑based and multidisciplinary team meetings for case coordination and treatment alignment. Coordinate with external providers, educators, and stakeholders to ensure consistency of care across all environments. Role Expectations and Deliverables Core Expectations Ownership & Accountability: You own your caseload end‑to‑end. Clinical quality, treatment fidelity, documentation accuracy, and supervision quality are your responsibility. Responsiveness & Clinical Responsiveness: You are available and responsive to urgent clinical issues, parent concerns, and supervision needs during all working hours. Clinical & Documentation Integrity: You maintain the highest standards of accuracy, completeness, and compliance across all clinical records, treatment plans, and supervision documentation. Regulatory & Compliance Posture: You maintain current knowledge of BACB standards, insurance requirements, and funding regulations affecting service delivery. Stakeholder Communication: You communicate clearly and consistently with families, caregivers, schools, and team members to ensure alignment and transparency. Daily Deliver ABA supervision to assigned caseload; implement treatment plans and provide clinical intervention in alignment with each client’s goals. Review client progress data, session notes, and clinical updates; make same‑day programming adjustments based on data analysis. Address clinical concerns or elevate appropriately to the ABA Clinical Director. Monitor behavior technician performance and treatment fidelity during sessions; provide real‑time coaching and feedback. Complete clinical documentation including session notes, data analysis summaries, and treatment plan modifications. Weekly Conduct formal supervision sessions with RBT‑level staff, averaging approximately 20% of client service time per case (per BACB requirements). Review weekly data across all active cases; identify trends, barriers, or opportunities for treatment adjustment. Update treatment plans, behavior intervention plans, and goal progress based on ongoing data analysis. Prepare summaries of caseload progress, clinical barriers or successes, and pending clinical decisions for review with the ABA Clinical Director. Coordinate with school personnel and external providers regarding client progress and treatment alignment. Monthly Conduct comprehensive re‑assessment and treatment plan review for all active cases; modify goals and interventions as indicated. Complete required reauthorization documentation and submit to funding sources per payer timelines. Conduct training sessions for behavior technicians on clinical protocols, new interventions, or skill development areas. Review parent training progress and adjust caregiver education plan based on family needs and generalization data. Audit clinical documentation across caseload for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with agency and BACB standards. Quarterly Complete comprehensive reassessment and outcome analysis for all active cases; present findings to the ABA Clinical Director. Analyze supervision quality metrics and RBT performance data; identify training or performance improvement needs. Review and update all training materials, protocols, and clinical resources to reflect current evidence‑based practice. Participate in program‑level quality improvement initiatives and contribute to clinic‑wide performance goals. Complete required continuing education to maintain BCBA certification and stay current with field developments. Competencies Clinical Excellence: Deep knowledge of evidence‑based ABA practice, BACB standards, and ethical guidelines; demonstrated ability to design, implement, and refine individualized treatment plans based on functional assessments and data analysis. Data‑Driven Decision Making: Collects, analyzes, and interprets behavioral data to inform clinical decisions; adjusts treatment protocols based on objective outcomes rather than intuition. Coaching and Development: Provides constructive feedback, models clinical techniques, and builds capability in behavior technicians and RBT‑level staff; delivers competency‑based training that improves treatment fidelity. Stakeholder Communication: Communicates clinical information clearly to families, caregivers, schools, and team members; builds collaborative relationships that support generalization and treatment consistency. Systems Thinking: Understands how individual treatment decisions impact broader client outcomes, family functioning, and program‑level goals; identifies opportunities for process improvement. Professional Accountability: Maintains high standards of documentation integrity, regulatory compliance, and ethical practice without requiring external oversight. Qualifications Required Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification, active and in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB). Master’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field. Experience providing direct ABA services, conducting functional behavior assessments, and developing individualized treatment plans. Experience supervising behavior technicians, RBT‑level staff, or direct support staff in a clinical or educational setting. Demonstrated ability to analyze behavioral data and make data‑driven clinical decisions. Experience conducting parent training and caregiver education or willingness to complete training. Ability to pass a DCF background check prior to start. Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to worksite. Proficiency with electronic health records, data collection systems, Microsoft Office, and basic computer applications. Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clinical documentation and stakeholder communication. Preferred Credentialed with Husky and Anthem insurances as a BCBA. Two or more years of experience in a clinical setting serving individuals with autism spectrum disorder or developmental disabilities. Experience with insurance authorization processes, billing documentation, and funding requirements for ABA services. Experience with treatment planning for complex cases involving multiple behavior reduction targets and skill acquisition goals. CPR/First Aid certification. Experience with crisis intervention and de‑escalation techniques. Physical Demands and Work Environment Physical Demands Prolonged sitting during client sessions, parent training, and clinical supervision activities. Bending, kneeling, and crouching to interact with clients at their level or to manage equipment and materials. Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds on occasion. Fine motor dexterity for writing, data entry, and documentation. Clear auditory and visual perception to monitor client behavior and respond to verbal and nonverbal communication. Personal Care & Behavioral Support This role involves working directly with individuals who may display challenging behaviors including verbal escalation, aggression, or self‑injury. While the primary focus is clinical analysis and treatment planning, the Behavior Analyst may assist with: Implementing behavior intervention plans and reinforcement strategies in the moment. Redirecting or managing challenging behaviors using de‑escalation techniques. Assisting with personal care needs in rare instances if behavior technicians are unavailable. Working with clients who may have sensory sensitivities, developmental disabilities, or mental health conditions. Work Environment Work is performed at our Collective ABA clinic in Trumbull, CT. Exposure to varying weather conditions when traveling between locations. Potential exposure to client behaviors including aggression, property destruction, or self‑injury; training in crisis intervention and behavior support strategies required. Flexible schedule including potential early mornings and evenings to meet client and family needs. Must maintain all required certifications including crisis intervention (PMT) and CPR/First Aid.
