Operations Coordinator (Sterile Processing Lead Tech)

Overview Requisition Number: R-22048 Facility: LOC0001 - 55 Fogg Road, Weymouth, MA 02190 Department: SSH CPD Status: Full time Budgeted Hours: 40 Shift: Day/Eve Rotation (United States of America) Compensation: $24.75 - $33.30 per hour Essential Functions & Responsibilities Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement Document mechanical, chemical and biological controls on a daily basis for each sterilizer. Participate in department QA and PI activities as directed. Maintain accurate records of all sterilization processes. Oversee work quality and performance on assigned shift. Supervise equipment operation; take corrective action when necessary. Verify documentation such as sterilizer printouts, HLD logbooks, and electronic monitoring records. Foster open communication through rounds, shift reports, memos, and huddles. Identify areas needing improvement and communicate findings to the Manager. Contribute ideas for work design improvement, cost reductions, and quality initiatives. Help establish department goals and quality initiatives. Problem Identification & Communication Provide accurate shift reports and oral hand‑off information. Complete daily assignment sheets reflecting departmental needs and staff rotation. Work closely with Service Line Coordinators and Core Technician to schedule equipment deliveries. Notify Manager of required changes to prevent problems or improve service. Respond promptly to department customer needs. Keep Manager informed of potential problems and action plans. Collaborate with other departments via phone and email. Ordering & Inventory Maintenance Assist with proper care, handling, and assembly of instruments and equipment. Ensure timely delivery of supplies to appropriate units. Organize work areas for efficient reprocessing. Support equipment and supply monitoring to maintain adequate resources. Assist OR Service Line Coordinators with instrument and kit quantities. Technology Adoption Stay current with department practice changes via email and databases. Use electronic asset tracking system effectively. Generate pick lists for case carts as schedules change. Use time‑clock and computer to log work hours accurately. Safety Awareness Complete mandatory safety education programs. Understand roles during hospital codes. Operate equipment safely and maintain competency. Locate safety data sheets for used items. Follow CDC guidelines and departmental policies on Universal Precautions. Use personal protective equipment and proper body mechanics. Dispose of biohazard waste per Infection Control guidelines. Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations. Human Resource Management Provide timely coaching under Manager direction. Encourage staff development and recognize achievements. Assist in evaluating employee performance. Commit to unit and department policies. Promote teamwork and positive relationships. Qualifications High School Diploma required; CRCST training preferred. Three to five years of Central Services experience desired. One to two years of supervisory experience preferred. Must be CRCST certified at hire, or agree to obtain certification upon hire. Valid Driver’s License required. Basic computer skills; ability to use electronic asset tracking and scheduling systems. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Experience with surgical instrumentation, case cart assembly, and aseptic technique preferred. Capable of leading staff to achieve departmental goals.
