Job Opportunity – Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) RN – Pennsylvania

Start Date: November 2, 2026

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants (local rate differential applies for candidates within 50-mile radius)

Schedule: Block scheduling, every other weekend requirement, floating required based on unit needs, 8-hour orientation

Highlights:

• Work with a diverse and complex patient population including neurosurgery, vascular surgery, thoracic surgery, orthopedic interventions, and liver transplants
• Gain experience with Level 1 Trauma cases including MVA, falls, gunshot wounds, and open abdomens
• 16-bed unit with daily census of 14 patients and comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, physical therapy, pharmacy, and rapid response teams
• Charting system: EPIC EMR
• Advanced critical care procedures including mechanical ventilation, CRRT, arterial line management, central line insertion, and EVD monitoring
• First-time travelers welcome with 2 years of experience

Requirements:

• Active Pennsylvania or Compact State RN license required at time of submission
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience required
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• TNCC certification preferred
• Trauma Level I or Level II experience preferred
• Charge experience preferred
• Patient ratio experience: 1:2
• Valid professional references and certification copies required
• PA state fingerprinting and background clearance required (must be completed within one week of contract signing)
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• Clinical competency exam required (three attempts maximum)

Core Skills & Competencies:

• Ventilator management and care of ventilated patients
• Arterial line and central line care/management
• Blood product administration and massive transfusion protocol
• Continuous IV sedation and paralytic management
• Post-neurosurgery and post-craniotomy care
• Liver transplant and liver failure management
• CRRT/CVVHD therapy
• ICP monitoring and external ventricular drain (EVD) management
• Hemodynamic monitoring including CVP, pulmonary artery catheters, and FloTrac/Vigileo
• Traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury care
• Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction

Patient Population:

Adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients with complex surgical and trauma diagnoses
