Role Overview

REGENT is building a new category of vehicle that will transform how people and goods move across coastal and maritime environments - creating new possibilities for both commercial transportation and defense missions. Doing that requires a financial foundation built for the realities of a growing hardware and manufacturing company: complex supply chains, multiple R&D programs, increasing production investment, commercial and military customers, and major decisions about where and when to deploy capital.

Following our $240M Series B, we're looking for a Director of Finance to lead our day-to-day Finance function and serve as REGENT's Controller through our next stage of growth. You'll lead the Finance team while staying close to the work yourself — owning accounting, financial planning and modeling, analysis, and reporting while building the financial infrastructure REGENT needs as we prepare for production.

You'll work closely with leaders across REGENT to bring financial context into decisions early and help navigate tradeoffs across programs, headcount, manufacturing investment, CapEx, and other company priorities. You'll also build greater visibility into program and manufacturing economics so we can better understand where we're investing, how we're performing against our plans, and what needs to change as we scale.

This is a build-stage Finance leadership role. As REGENT moves from prototype development toward production, you'll strengthen the financial infrastructure needed for that transition — from planning, accounting, reporting, and controls to manufacturing cost visibility and the financial design and implementation of our ERP.

What You'll Do

• Lead the Finance Team: Lead the day-to-day Finance function, setting priorities, developing the team, and building the clarity and accountability needed as REGENT scales.

• Build Manufacturing & Program Finance: Partner with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, and People to build visibility into program and production economics, including material, labor, overhead, inventory, CapEx, supplier commitments, and product costs.

• Own Financial Planning & Modeling: Personally build and maintain the models that guide REGENT’s plans and priorities, including budgets, forecasts, cash and runway, scenario planning, program investment, CapEx, and growth.

• Shape Business & Capital Decisions: Partner with leadership to evaluate investments and tradeoffs across programs, headcount, manufacturing capacity, suppliers, facilities, and other priorities — bringing financial context into decisions early.

• Own Accounting, Reporting & Audit: Own REGENT’s accounting, close, financial reporting, and first external audit, ensuring the numbers are accurate, defensible, and ready for the board, investors, auditors, and government customers.

• Lead the ERP Implementation: Own the financial design and implementation of REGENT’s ERP, including chart of accounts, costing, inventory and WIP, procure-to-pay, program accounting, revenue recognition, and reporting.

• Scale Finance Operations & Controls: Build the systems, processes, and controls needed for a growing manufacturing company — improving speed, visibility, and financial discipline without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

What You'll Bring

• Deep Accounting Foundation: You bring strong GAAP fluency, technical accounting judgment, and experience owning the hard questions - not just escalating them. You may have been a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Director of Accounting, or a Finance leader who directly owned the accounting function and was accountable for the technical accounting decisions behind the numbers.

• Manufacturing Finance Experience: You've led Finance or financial planning in hardware, manufacturing, aerospace, automotive, industrial, or another capital-intensive environment. You understand the realities of building physical products — long development cycles, supply chains, inventory, material and labor costs, CapEx, working capital, and production investment.

• Strategic & Cross-Functional Leadership: You've partnered closely with executives and functional leaders to turn financial information into decisions. You bring a point of view, challenge assumptions when needed, and can help people who don't live in Finance understand the financial implications of the choices in front of them. You're comfortable owning significant scope while operating as part of a broader team as the company and Finance organization evolve.

• Audit Experience: You've been through external audits and know what auditors actually ask for, and how to prepare rather than scramble. Taking a company through its first audit is a strong plus.

• Financial Modeling Depth: You've personally built and owned models that drove meaningful business decisions, including operating plans, cash and runway forecasts, scenario analyses, and investment models. You can move easily between the company-level financial picture and the operational assumptions underneath it.

• ERP Implementation Experience: You've played a meaningful role in implementing or scaling an ERP and understand the decisions behind processes, data, controls, reporting, and costing — not just the mechanics of implementation. NetSuite experience is a significant advantage.

• People Leadership: You've led and developed Finance teams, setting clear expectations and creating accountability while giving people the coaching, context, and support they need to grow.

• Experience Building Through Growth: You've worked in a growing company where the systems, processes, and answers weren't all already in place. You're comfortable walking into ambiguity, figuring out what's needed, and building from there - creating the financial rigor the business needs without slowing it down or adding unnecessary complexity.

• Genuine Mission Alignment: You're motivated by what REGENT is building, not just the Finance function you'd be running. Seagliders, coastal transportation, defense applications, and the challenge of bringing first-of-a-kind technology into production genuinely interest you — and that comes through in how you engage with the work.

You see systems, data, automation, and processes as tools for creating better visibility and faster decisions — and you're thoughtful about building infrastructure that can scale with the business rather than simply recreating today's processes in new tools.
