Assistant Coach- Track & Field

McMurry University seeks a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field. This position is responsible for the organization, direction, and administration of all aspects of the men’s and women’s cross‑country & track programs in a manner that supports the mission and values of the university and is in full compliance with NCAA Division III, conference, and institutional guidelines. Responsibilities Recruiting: Identifies prospective student‑athletes qualified for admission to McMurry University; effectively communicates with prospective student‑athletes; effectively communicates and coordinates recruitment efforts for the cross‑country program with McMurry’s Office of Admissions. Coaching/Student‑Athlete Experience: Demonstrates knowledge of and ability to develop sport skills and strategies; promotes student‑athlete welfare and provides appropriate mentoring to student‑athletes and assistant coach in a Christ‑centered setting. Assists the Head Coach for Track & Field in addition to head coaching responsibilities for cross‑country student athletes. Program Administration: Operates within all University, Conference and NCAA III guidelines; schedules practices; maintains inventory of equipment, uniforms, and supplies; carries out team travel according to established policies and procedures; effectively communicates within the Department and with the university community on matters pertaining to the cross‑country and track programs. Required Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. Ability to recruit outstanding student‑athletes to a strong academic environment with a Christian mission. Experience coaching cross‑country at the college level or significant experience coaching at the high school or club level, or equivalent required and/or collegiate playing experience. Ability to effectively teach and coach student‑athletes in a Christ‑centered setting. A commitment to being a positive role model and leader to the team as well as an excellent communicator. Ability to effectively interact with a wide variety of people in a manner that positively portrays the University and its programs, personnel, and philosophies.
