Project Controls Specialist I

Position Overview At HNTB, the Project Controls Specialist I supports multiple project controls functions across the project life cycle, including scheduling, estimating, cost control, risk management, document control, and project management information systems. The role involves reporting on cost controls and schedules, maintaining project controls systems, and ensuring compliance with project procedures. Responsibilities Prepare material, labor, and equipment cost estimates for concept designs, bid documents, and change orders. Assist in developing conceptual estimates and Independent Cost Estimates (ICE). Create, maintain, and control budgets and schedules. Review and assess monthly progress schedule updates and provide advisory input. Develop cost forecasts, analyze accruals, and maintain estimating data. Consult on potential claims, claims avoidance, and support. Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations. Define project risks, maintain risk register, and propose mitigation plans. Support PMCS and assist in implementation. Participate in negotiations and price discussions as needed. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management or related field and 3 years of relevant experience, or In lieu of education, 7 years of relevant experience OR 3 years of relevant direct contractor experience. Preferred Qualifications AACE Project Risk Management Professional, PMI Risk Management Professional, or equivalent. Project Controls experience in two or more project phases. Experience working as client's PM/CM agent or part of a design‑build contractor. Working knowledge of P6, Procore, and Microsoft Office. Additional Information Location: SaltLakeCity, UT.
