Job Description

The Helper Ventilation role supports the installation, cleaning, and maintenance of air cleaning and ventilation systems in industrial, commercial, hotel, restaurant, and casino environments. This position focuses on the ventilation side of HVAC, including hands-on work with filters, ductwork, and basic electrical tasks. It is a physically active, field-based role that offers on-the-job training for entry-level candidates interested in learning installation, wiring, and repair of ventilation systems.

Responsibilities

• Clean ventilation units and air cleaning systems in manufacturing, hotel, restaurant, commercial, industrial, and casino facilities.
• Support the changeover to more eco-friendly filters by removing, replacing, and installing ventilation filters.
• Use hand tools to perform basic installation, cleaning, and maintenance tasks on ventilation and duct systems.
• Lift and move ventilation systems, filters, and related materials as part of daily duties.
• Perform air duct cleaning and general labor tasks, including handling materials and keeping work areas organized.
• Assist with HVAC installation work focused on the ventilation portion, excluding refrigeration and cooling systems.
• Learn and support basic wiring, electrical work, and installation of ventilation units under supervision.
• Help with minor repair tasks on air cleaning and ventilation systems as directed by experienced technicians.
• Travel regularly with the team to client sites across a wide geographic area, including locations from Santa Barbara to San Diego and parts of the Inland Empire.
• Work an overnight 4/10 schedule, starting Sunday night and working shifts between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.
• Collaborate effectively as a team player, communicate clearly with colleagues, and follow instructions and safety guidelines.
• Maintain a professional and presentable appearance while performing physically demanding and dirty ventilation work.
• Adhere to company policies, including safe vehicle use while riding in company vehicles to job sites.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting ventilation systems and materials and working in dirty or dusty environments.
• Comfort working with hand tools for installation, cleaning, and basic repair tasks.
• Willingness to work with ventilation systems and air ducts, focusing on the HVAC ventilation side without refrigeration or cooling responsibilities.
• Readiness to perform general labor duties, including air duct cleaning, material handling, and basic wiring support.
• Strong self-motivation with the ability to take initiative and stay productive throughout long shifts.
• Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cooperatively and reliably with coworkers and supervisors.
• Comfort with heavy travel to multiple job sites across a broad region, including Santa Barbara, San Diego, Orange County, and Inland Empire areas.
• Ability to work overnight shifts on a 4/10 schedule, starting Sunday night, within the 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. time window.
• Clean DMV record, as required to ride in and potentially operate company vehicles in accordance with company policies.
• Professional and presentable demeanor while working on-site at customer locations.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Trade school education or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, or related fields is a strong plus but not required.
• Interest in learning HVAC installation, particularly the ventilation portion, including ductwork and air cleaning systems.
• Willingness to learn basic electrical systems, wiring, and installation practices for ventilation units.
• Experience with general labor, cleaning, repair, or maintenance work in industrial or commercial settings is beneficial.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and safety procedures while working with tools and equipment.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality, especially for overnight and travel-based work schedules.

Work Environment

Helpers work primarily in the field at customer sites, performing tasks such as changing filters, assisting with materials, cleaning air ducts, and learning electrical systems and wiring. The job involves working in dusty or dirty conditions, handling tools and equipment, and performing physically demanding tasks, often during overnight shifts. Travel is frequent and can extend across a wide region from Santa Barbara to San Diego and into the Inland Empire, with transportation provided in company vehicles. A presentable appearance is expected while on-site, even though the nature of the work is hands-on and labor-intensive.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA.

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $21.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
