Description

American Traveler is hiring a night shift RN for a Level II Trauma Center ICU requiring 2 years of ICU experience and EPIC proficiency.

Details

• 14-bed Critical Care ICU unit within a Level II Trauma Center and Primary Stroke Center hospital (91 beds total)
• Patient population includes general/medical (sepsis, pneumonia, COVID, COPD, respiratory failure, kidney/liver failure, GI bleeds, DKA), cardiac (CHF, STEMI/NSTEMI, post-cath), trauma (GSW, stabbings, falls), surgical (GYN, GI, GU), and neuro (SDH, TBI, CVA, TIA, syncope) cases
• No cardiovascular surgery cases on unit
• Patient ratios range 1:1-3, with team nursing support from experienced MedSurg RNs when ratios exceed 2 patients
• 12-hour night shift schedule, , 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend rotation required
• No on-call or call-back requirements
• Schedules created in 6-week increments
• May float anywhere in the hospital within scope of practice; floating to MedSurg/Tele units or ED Boarding with MS patients follows a 1:4 ratio
• Travelers float first
• EPIC EMR required
• Uses Alaris IV pumps and Pyxis medication dispensing system

Requirements

• Active RN license (WI or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• TNCC certification preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Skills required: vent/trach management, tube/drain management, chest tubes, invasive line management (art line, CVP), cardiac rhythm interpretation, surgical recovery, and medication titration (sedation, pressors, cardiac, pain, paralytics)
• Preferred skills: abdominal pressure monitoring, EVDs, CVVH, and IABP
• Minimum 1 professional reference dated within the last year from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to a diverse ICU patient population including cardiac, trauma, surgical, and neuro cases
• Manage ventilator care, invasive lines, chest tubes, and medication titration for critically ill patients
• Unit support includes Charge RN, 1-2 CNAs per shift, bedside/centralized tele monitoring, HUC on day shift, break buddy system, and 24/7 RT, Hospitalist, and Intensivist coverage
• OT/PT/ST support available during the day
• 2-day facility and unit orientation includes access/badge setup on Day 1 and a 12-hour shift with a preceptor on Day 2
• Holiday coverage required for 1 holiday per contract
• Up to 7 days of RTO can be approved during the contract
• Scrubs must be any solid color and professional, with no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking provided in designated employee areas
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate with no radius restrictions
• Former employees of the health system or its subsidiaries must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible
