Associate Legal Counsel

We are seeking an associate to support Cerity Partners' legal department. The associate legal counsel will help manage the legal department's shared inbox and provide legal support across a broad range of commercial and contractual matters, partnering closely with the legal department, compliance and other stakeholders. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented attorney to gain broad, hands-on experience supporting a fast-paced in-house legal team at a growing RIA.

Primary Responsibilities

• Review and negotiate a variety of contracts, including vendor contracts, NDAs, and other commercial agreements.
• Provide legal counsel to advisors and other colleagues on client agreements and other legal matters.
• Review legal process and coordinate with outside legal counsel as needed.
• Provide support to the legal department on ad hoc matters, special projects and overflow work as needs evolve.

Required Qualifications:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• Admission to New York bar in good standing.
• 2-4 years of experience in a law firm or corporate legal department.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior in-house or law firm experience in M&A, general corporate, financial services, asset management, or wealth management a plus.

Skills and Competencies:

• Comfort working independently and prioritizing across a high volume of inbound requests.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong contract drafting skills, exceptional business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts clearly to non-lawyers.

Compensation Range:

$160,000 - $180,000
