Maintenance Shift SupervisorThe Maintenance Shift Supervisor located in Cleveland, OH is the first level of authority in the manufacturing plant providing leadership, coaching and clear direction to ensure people are working safely, meeting customer demand, solving problems, eliminating waste and meeting goals. The primary function of the Maintenance Supervisor is to plan, oversee and coordinate day-to-day maintenance execution of facility, equipment and machinery. The incumbent must be able to seek cooperation from others and must develop relationships to resolve problems. The incumbent must demonstrate:Knowledge and experience in applying lean manufacturing principles.Demonstrated ability to train, develop and motivate subordinates.Well-developed communication, leadership and problem-solving skillsMajor Activities & Key Challenges:Diagnose and assist in solving difficult maintenance problems and recurring malfunctionsSupport operating results through the management of subordinates with emphasis on quantity, quality, timeliness, safety, recovery, and delivery performanceEnsure work is allocated fairly and clearly assigned to crew members; formulate and assign tasks within guidelines established by department managementDecide and deploy appropriate crewing arrangements for planned and unplanned situations based on absences, schedule requirements, equipment availability, and vacationsIdentify opportunities for problem-solving teams targeting waste eliminationDetermine maintenance and inspection methods and directs maintenance workers in operating proceduresRequisition materials, supplies, and parts for departmentUnderstand and utilize department measures which enable tracking of performance and progress towards achieving department goalsManage the daily activities of assigned employees (including assigned Work Leaders);Manage safety of subordinates utilizing the concepts of Human PerformanceLead individual safety discussions and job specific safety reviewsSupervise maintenance personnel engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipmentAssess training needs and assists in trainingInitiate timely corrective action as appropriate (including attendance/tardiness)Lead the maintenance forces in rapidly responding to breakdown situationsComplete the work which occurs on their shift in a cost-effective manner to ensure proper process and environmental equipment operation and availabilityWork with maintenance technicians to apply root cause analysis and rapid problem-solving techniques to minor exceptions to find and eliminate the fundamental problemsDevelop individuals in the organization by providing challenging assignments for employee and by providing training, coaching, and mentoring for the all employeesUnderstand the maintenance philosophy and implementing the maintenance strategic plan to ensure cost effective asset management, long term viability of equipment, long term improvement of the maintenance team and competent, well-rounded individuals to support operations.Environment, Health & Safety Requirements:Howmet Aerospace is a 24-hour, 7 days per week operation. As a result, supervisors need to be flexible to schedule and shift changes. Howmet will do its best to provide ample notice prior to making any changes.Schedules vary. Typical 8.5 hours shifts Monday-Friday as well as alternate schedule with 12-hour shifts in which one alternates between working 3 days consecutively and 2 days consecutively. Both schedules are currently utilized.There may be overtime opportunities on weekends, determined by business need.Basic Qualifications :High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institutionMinimum of 3 years' experience performing maintenance in a manufacturing environmentMinimum of 1-year experience supervising/managing a team.This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.Preferred Qualifications :Associates degree from an accredited institution;Previous training via a trade school;5 + years' experience supervising/managing at team;Experience with mechanical systems maintenanceExperience in electrical, automation and control systems maintenanceExperience with Microsoft Office Suite, OracleExperience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)Experience managing with the parameters of a collective bargain agreement
