Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Progressive Care Unit Duration: 16 weeks Shift: Day/Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years of nursing experience required License: Valid compact or state nursing license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience in acute care settings within the last 12 months Description: This position involves caring for adults and geriatric patients. The focus will be on newly diagnosed acute leukemia patients. The goal staffing ratio is 1:4, but it could be as high as 1:5. Self-scheduling requests are accepted to accommodate preferred schedules. The unit places a heavy emphasis on infection prevention protocols. Candidates should have experience with telemetry interpretation and rapid response teams. Key skills include IV therapy, phlebotomy, and management of central lines. Candidates should be experienced in patient falls prevention and management of dysrhythmias. Oncology experience is preferred but not required. The daily patient census is 22, within a unit of 24 beds. Interdisciplinary support will include various services such as respiratory and pharmacy. Candidates must complete the fingerprinting process as part of credentialing. Two professional references are required, with one from a leadership position. Travel experience is required for this role.
