Civil Project Engineer

We are seeking a capable Civil Project Engineer to support the successful delivery of civil engineering projects from initial planning through to completion. This role will suit an organised and technically minded professional who can coordinate design, construction and commercial activities while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality and programme performance. You will work closely with project managers, designers, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to ensure that works are delivered efficiently and in accordance with approved specifications, drawings and relevant legislation.


Key responsibilities will include preparing and reviewing technical documentation, method statements, risk assessments and inspection and test plans; monitoring progress against agreed programmes; and assisting with the resolution of design, construction and technical issues. You will contribute to project planning, cost control, change management and forecasting, ensuring that variations and potential risks are identified and reported promptly. The role will also involve attending site meetings, carrying out inspections, reviewing contractor performance and maintaining accurate project records. You will be expected to promote best practice in health, safety, environmental management and quality throughout all stages of delivery.


Applicants should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in civil engineering and have relevant experience in a project engineering or site-based civil engineering role. A sound understanding of construction methods, temporary works, quality procedures, health and safety requirements and industry standards is essential. Experience of working on infrastructure, highways, utilities, groundworks or other major civil engineering projects would be advantageous. You should be confident interpreting technical drawings and specifications, using relevant engineering and project management software, and communicating effectively with a wide range of stakeholders. Strong organisational skills, commercial awareness, attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities are essential. A full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites may also be required.
