Generator Technician

Job Summary The Field Generator Technician provides technical expertise as part of a team for the repair and maintenance of natural gas‑powered generators and other supporting equipment. The Technician develops, refines, and optimizes maintenance programs to reduce fleet costs and maximize reliability, while documenting procedures to maintain the Mesa standard across field offices. The role collaborates with engineering and manufacturing teams on product improvements and new product development. Essential Duties Perform maintenance services on Mesa units in accordance with the Mesa standard. Maintain unit records by thoroughly recoding service/repair tasks and parts used. Troubleshoot problems and resolve them in a timely manner. Provide superior customer service. Verify and ensure unit serviceability by following service checklists. Update professional knowledge through constant study of Mesa units. Maintain the Mesa standard in all aspects of job responsibilities. Perform all duties in a safe and effective manner according to company policies and procedures. Maintain clean and organized work environments at all times. Transmit information and documents with computer and phone. Maintain professional personal appearance. Help provide a positive team spirit daily. Perform all other duties assigned. Qualifications Education High School or GED (required). Vocational/Technical degree with an engine or mechanical focus (preferred). 4‑Year/Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from an accredited university (preferred). Experience Required 1 year of experience operating 3/4–1‑ton service trucks. 1 year of trailer pulling experience. Preferred 2 years of related experience. Honorably discharged service veterans are preferred. Certifications, Licenses & Registrations Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record satisfactory to the company and its insurers (required). Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Understanding and familiarity of basic hand tools. Understanding of standard and metric systems. Understanding of electricity and associated hazards (preferred). Proficient with engine troubleshooting tools including Engine Control Modules and gaseous fuel systems (preferred). Familiarity with Mesa unit maintenance procedures and standards. Basic mechanical and electrical repair methods. Safety protocols and company policies. Recordkeeping and documentation practices. Troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools. Customer service principles. Use of digital tools for communication and documentation. Perform routine and complex maintenance and repairs. Accurately document service and parts usage. Identify, diagnose, and resolve mechanical issues. Provide professional, customer‑focused service. Use service checklists to ensure unit readiness. Maintain organized and safe work environments. Communicate clearly via phone and computer. Work effectively as part of a team. Follow company standards and service procedures consistently. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Learn and apply technical information specific to Mesa units. Manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks. Adapt to changing service needs or priorities. Contribute positively to team morale and workplace culture. Work independently while supporting team goals. Fluently speak, write, and read in English. Physical Demands Constant demands include vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception), hearing, and use of hands to type, touch, handle, or feel. Frequent demands include sitting, standing, walking or moving throughout the facility, driving, talking, bending or stooping, squatting or crouching, reaching, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and occasionally required to walk and climb or balance.
