Position is located: Mayo Hospital

Work Type: Full Time

Hours Per Week: 36 Hour/Week

Work Schedule: 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM

Summary: Functions as a surgical scrub during surgical and endoscopic cases. Works as a member of the surgical team in activities of patient care within scope of assigned duties and clinical expertise.

Responsibilities:

• Competent assistance to the surgeon as a surgical scrub during surgery and endoscopic cases.
• Preparing and collecting surgical supplies for surgery.
• Maintaining and ordering par levels of general and special-order supplies.
• Using and maintaining surgery preference cards.
• Adhering to strict aseptic technique.
• Arranging surgical instrumentation and equipment in an orderly fashion.
• Accurately tracking surgical instrumentation, sponges, and sharps during surgery.
• Demonstrating competency in use of all surgical and endoscopic equipment.
• Cleaning surgical instrumentation manually and with automatic washer when on call.
• Assisting with positioning and moving patients as directed by the RN Circulator.

Education:

• Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)
• Required Associate's Degree - Must have attended a Surgical Technologist program and must attain certification within one year of hire.
