Payroll ClerkMinimum Starting Salary- $17.25 per hourJob Assignment: Office AdministrationJob Title: Payroll Clerk Wage/Hour Status: Non-exemptReports to: Director of Payroll Pay Grade: AS230/240 days Dept./School: Payroll/Central Administration Date Revised: Fall 2026Primary PurposePerform the clerical duties necessary to support the Payroll Department. Works under the direction of the Payroll Manager.QualificationsMinimum Education/CertificationHigh school diploma or GEDSpecial Knowledge/Skills/ExperienceOne-year payroll/accounting experience, or other equivalent experience or background school district experience is preferredExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsProficiency skills in keyboarding and file maintenance and other computer applicationsMajor Responsibilities and DutiesProvide prompt and courteous customer service to district employees within various district departments, regarding payroll-related questions. When necessary, forward employees to the appropriate member of the Payroll Department.Receive, stamp, and distribute all incoming mail. Mail outgoing documents in a timely manner.Scan payroll documents and attach supporting documents to Skyward and/or the network payroll drive.Update address changes in Skyward for those current employees/former employees who do not have access to the system.Enter Payroll Department requisitions and budget transfers.Process employment verification forms.Shred payroll documents as needed.Maintain supplies and payroll storeroom.Ensure accurate and timely processing of employee W4s and direct deposit information.Assist other department personnel as needed.Oversee and organize W-2 printing.Maintain confidentiality of information.Other duties as assigned by the Payroll Manager or Director of Payroll.Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsStandard office equipment including personal computer, scanner, shredder and peripheralsProlonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingRepetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reachingOccasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)May work prolonged or irregular hoursWork with frequent interruptions to meet established deadlines; maintain emotional control under stressOther: All employees are to follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.The foregoing statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and are not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required.
