This position assists the project team in managing safety and health processes on a project. This is a safety sensitive position.Key Responsibilities:Effectively communicate with various stakeholders including project owners, insurance carriers, Hensel Phelps staff, craft and trade partnersAttend owner meetings and work with their safety representatives, as necessaryEnhance safety culture through participation in executive safety culture charrettes and assisting the CARES (craft safety) committeeAssist project team with safety start-up, program development, implementation and managementWork with project team to create and manage the safety budgetAnticipate necessary safety supplies for employeesOversee the safety point file system and documentationMaintain project statistical dataParticipate in the six-step quality control/safety process including assisting with activity hazard analyses and participating in follow-up inspectionsFocus team members on high-risk activities and work with the area superintendents on ways to control riskConduct project safety training, as needed, and assist in developing the project's safety training scheduleAssist other team members in conducting safety training including tailgate meetingsLead the development and implementation of the project's SAFE programAnalyze project safety trends and work with PS to implement initiatives to address unsafe trendsConduct project safety audits and assist in team auditsPersonnel evaluation and developmentKnowledge of construction processes and the roles and responsibilities of all positions.Qualifications:A 4-year degree is preferredOccupational Safety and Health degree suggestedRecommended minimum of 3 years of experience in safety on commercial construction projectsConstruction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) Certification designation is suggestedValid Driver's LicenseStrong communication skills (verbal and written)Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel based templates, Prolog, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.Physical Requirements:Moderate Work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The individual in this position will periodically walk, kneel, sit, crouch, reach, stoop, read/see, speak, push, pull, lift, stand, and finger/type. The frequency of each action varies by workflow and office activity. Walking - The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, boxes, cabinets, etc. Constantly operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, computer, and computer printer. The person in this position frequently communicates with employees and external stakeholders regarding a variety of topics related to office administration. Constantly computes, analyzes, and conceptualizes mathematical calculations and formulas. The person in this position regularly sits in a stationary position in front of a computer screen. Constantly reads written communications and views mail submissions. Will also need to read blueprints and take/verify field measurements. Climbing – Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding and ramps at various heights. Balancing – Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling and to walk, stand or crouch. Stooping – Bending the body downward and forward by the spine at the waist. Visual acuity and ability to operate a vehicle as certified and appropriate. Occasionally exposed to high and low temperatures Frequently exposed to noisy environments and outdoor elements such as precipitation and wind.Education:A 4-year degree is preferred.
