Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer

Role Description

Decisiv is hiring a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to help us build the next generation of our Service Relationship Management platform. We are looking for senior engineers who:

• Think in systems and hold a high bar for quality and reliability at scale.
• Treat their toolchain as a competitive advantage.
• Own complex problems end-to-end and modernize legacy systems.
• Ship features that touch real fleets, service providers, and manufacturers across North America.

Key Responsibilities

• Own outcomes end-to-end, taking features from problem definition through design, implementation, rollout, and operation.
• Build with leverage using modern toolchains to compound your output.
• Reason about systems, understanding data flow, failure modes, and operational behavior.
• Drive platform reliability and developer productivity by improving runtime systems and tooling.
• Modernize and extend legacy services for stability, performance, and scalability.
• Design durable APIs and integrations for long-term use.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and other engineers.
• Write clear specs, ADRs, PR descriptions, and runbooks.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to building software here.
• Participate in the on-call rotation for systems your team owns.

Qualifications

• BS/BA or equivalent experience; 6+ years building production web applications, including 3+ years with Ruby on Rails in production.
• Deep, current experience with Ruby on Rails in production environments.
• Strong proficiency with relational databases, PostgreSQL preferred.
• Experience integrating modern front-end frameworks (React, Vue, Angular, or similar) with Rails back ends.
• Strong API design and implementation skills (REST, JSON:API, OpenAPI; GraphQL a plus).
• Working knowledge of AWS, Docker, GitHub, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Practical experience with testing (RSpec, Capybara), performance tooling, observability, and production debugging.

• Modern tooling fluency and well-formed opinions about developer tooling.
• Instinctively reason about end-to-end behavior, integration points, and failure modes.
• High agency and ownership of loosely-defined problems.
• Quality judgment under leverage, maintaining high standards.
• Clear written communication of technical decisions and tradeoffs.

Bonus Points For

• Hands-on experience with large language models.
• Experience with Python and Java.
• Knowledge of data engineering, ELT pipelines, or analytics platforms.
• Background in API analytics, anomaly detection, or trend-based error analysis.
• Open-source contributions or a strong public engineering portfolio.
• Domain experience in commercial vehicle, fleet, logistics, or industrial software.
