Essential Job Functions

• Assist in preparing meals and snacks according to planned menus and resident dietary needs.
• Set up dining areas, serve meals, and clear tables promptly and respectfully.
• Ensure food is served at proper temperatures and in appropriate portions.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen, equipment, dishes, and dining areas in accordance with facility and regulatory standards.
• Label and store food items properly to maintain freshness and safety.
• Follow instructions from the Dietary Manager and work as part of the dietary team.
• Report any resident concerns, food complaints, or changes in appetite to supervisory staff.
• Comply with all state and federal regulations, including Department of Health standards and infection control procedures.
• Participate in staff training and in-service education as required.

Job Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous experience in food service, especially in a healthcare or long-term care setting, is a plus but not required.
• Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation practices.
• Ability to follow instructions, work efficiently, and interact courteously with residents and staff.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and carry items weighing up at least 30 lbs.
• Ability to work in warm or refrigerated environments and handle cleaning chemicals safely.
• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and maintain focus in a busy setting.
