Ortho Assistant Overview Location: Affiliated Dental Specialists – Vernon Hills, IL Job Type: Part‑time Pay: $20.00‑$27.00/hour (based on experience) Sign‑On Bonus: $1,000 About Us Our practice puts patient care first—each visit is guided by empathy. Your Work Schedule (2‑3 Days a week) Monday: 7:45 am‑5:00 pm Every other Tuesday: 7:45 am‑5:00 pm Every other Thursday: 7:45 am‑5:00 pm Saturday a month: 7:30 am‑1:00 pm Your Role as a Ortho Assistant The Orthodontic Assistant partners with the practice team to provide excellent clinical support, preparing patients for treatment and assisting the Orthodontist with materials and equipment. Key Responsibilities Provides excellent chair‑side clinical support and assistance to doctors, including charting, operatory set‑up/clean up, and patient education. Records and reviews patient health history, makes chart entries under the doctor's direction, and ensures completion of forms and signatures in dental software. Enters and updates patient treatment plans at the direction of the treating doctor. Opens and removes wires, brackets, and adhesive; takes impressions and scans; prepares teeth for bonding. Prepares treatment estimates for review and discussion with patients. Reviews the daily schedule to set up appropriate trays and instruments. Prepares patients, sterilizes and disinfects instruments, sets up instrument trays, maintains chain of asepsis, prepares materials, and assists the dentist during procedures following OSHA guidelines. What You’ll Need to Succeed Dental or Ortho Assisting Certification or prior on‑the‑job training. 1‑5 years of experience preferred; new graduates are welcome to apply. Radiography/X‑Ray certification (state‑specific). Current CPR certification. Proficiency in MS Office Suite. A commitment to delivering exceptional service and patient education.
