Location: Corporate Office (travel to branch locations required)
Type: Full-Time, Exempt
Salary: $60,000-$75,000 annually
Position Summary
The HR Generalist supports the YMCA of Metro North’s mission by providing day-to-day HR support across all branches. Reporting to the Chief Strategy & People Officer, this role helps ensure consistent HR practices, compliance, employee engagement, and a positive workplace culture throughout the organization.
This is an in-person position requiring regular travel to YMCA branch and program sites. Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or related field
- 2-4 years of HR experience
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to travel between branch locations
- Nonprofit or multi-site HR experience
- Familiarity with ADP or other HRIS systems
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification
- Support employee relations, engagement, and workplace culture aligned with YMCA values
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and new hire orientation
- Maintain employee records, HRIS data, compliance documentation, and HR reporting
- Partner with Benefits & Payroll on benefits administration, payroll support, and employee inquiries
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, background checks, and YMCA safety standards
- Coordinate required trainings and track certifications
