Description:
In this position, the Radiologic Technologist performs radiographic procedures in order to obtain desired radiographic results according to physician specifications.
This includes transferring patients for examinations, utilizing ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis, and assisting with the x-ray examination process.
The technologist is responsible for the appropriate operation of all x-ray imaging and related equipment.
The position requires educating, positioning, immobilizing, and performing x-ray procedures accurately.
Coordinates x-ray examinations to ensure timeliness, quality, and continuity of patient care.
Understands and follows provider imaging orders correctly.
Submits required images and related clinical information to the radiologist for interpretation.
Evaluates image quality appropriately.
Maintains open, accurate, and responsive communication to patients, coworkers, radiologists, and leadership.
Utilizes, charges, and maintains department supplies responsibly.
Practices sterile technique and follows infection prevention policies.
Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines.
Safely performs x-ray procedures, including patient transfer.
Prepares and administers contrast according to radiologist protocol.
Follows radiation safety measures (ALARA) to ensure patient and staff safety.
Supervises and evaluates student radiographers in the clinical setting.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
Ability to successfully function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment is required.
Experience in the understanding and usage of computers, including the Microsoft Office Suite, is necessary.
Additional skills include image quality evaluation, sterile technique, infection prevention, and knowledge of radiation safety measures.
