Temporary Clinical Pharmacist - Infusion Support

Job Summary Provides leadership in optimal product preparation and dosing of medications, and provision of patient‑specific drug information to support safe, appropriate and cost‑effective medication use. Position Highlights Temporary Clinical Pharmacist – infusion team. Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm. Hybrid options available. Key Responsibilities Reviews drug orders and prescriptions to ensure safe, appropriate and cost‑effective use of medications. Provides outstanding patient care by optimizing medication preparation and resolving medication‑related problems. Prepares and dispenses medications, provides drug information, and manages medication therapy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations and hospital policy. Supervises the activities of assigned support personnel and verifies the accuracy of all medications prepared by support personnel before dispensing to patients or to providers for administration. Additional duties may be assigned as needed. Technical Capabilities Medication Management (Intermediate) – demonstrates proficiency in medication management, determines clinical appropriateness of each medication, monitors for therapeutic duplication, interprets laboratory results, and provides drug information to clinicians, patients, and families. Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation & Dispensing (Novice) – proficient in reviewing, preparing, and dispensing prescribed medications; applies principles of aseptic technique for sterile compound preparations. Mentoring & Coaching (Novice) – constructs training and mentorship, offers constructive feedback, removes roadblocks, and shares knowledge effectively. Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Novice) – proficient in computer applications used to support medication use processes, including moderate‑difficulty patient‑care issues. Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Advanced) – advanced knowledge of regulations, applies process improvement, maintains compliance with federal, state, local regulations and VUMC policies, and explains ambiguous or unclear rules. Fostering Innovation – generates new ideas, applies technology, and adapts to change. Position Qualifications Licensing: Tennessee Licensure – Current Drug License (LIC-Pharmacist). Experience: Less than 1 year relevant work experience. Education: Bachelor's degree.
