POSITION SUMMARY

Under general direction of the Recreation Manager, the Recreation Specialist position is responsible for coordinating, promoting, and facilitating elements of City-sponsored programs, events/festivals, and internal operations, etc. The Recreation Specialist also assists in the creation and execution of programs and special events through preparing and organizing resources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists in ensuring the delivery of high quality recreation programs and services to the community. Facilitates programs, events, and leagues. Coordinates with parks staff, vendors and participants to ensure proper information is communicated. Monitors timelines to ensure deadlines are met. Recommends additional programming and events to ensure program growth based on customer preference. Works with key staff to create, design and edit promotional materials, forms, flyers, etc. to ensure a consistent city brand. Collaborates with the Public Affairs Communication team to create marketing strategies, develop Schertz Magazine content, and the Schertz Parks & Recreation FUN Guide. Assists in volunteer management and recruitment. Maintains a current database of vendors, contractors, and other contacts/resources. Responds to and resolves difficult and sensitive inquiries and complaints. Responds to telephone inquiries, email inquiries, records messages, transfers calls, keeps calendars and schedules appointments as needed. Assists with processing all invoices and payments for various events. Manages special projects as requested. Perform other job-related duties as required or directed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

High School diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred. Two years related experience required. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED

Must possess a valid Texas Driver's License. Certified Park and Recreational Professional (CPRP) preferred. #J-18808-Ljbffr City-of-Schertz-
