Fraud Specialist

Overview Our client is seeking Fraud Service Specialists for 6‑month contract-to-hire positions. The role is hybrid in Live Oak, TX, and requires candidates to be local to the area. Prior experience in fraud, banking or related customer support roles is essential. Responsibilities Intake and handle escalated member inquiries where fraud is likely, providing empathy and support. Process real‑time solutions for members, non‑members, and internal employee case inquiries through inbound/outbound calls and written communication. Apply basic fraud detection techniques and research inquiries and transactions as directed. Communicate sensitive information clearly, educating and assuring callers throughout the resolution process. Maintain phone etiquette standards and employ effective member interview techniques. Make real‑time, analytical decisions that directly impact member interactions and accounts. Identify, research, and correct account discrepancies, errors, and possible fraud trends. Access multiple reporting tools to review, update, and ensure data integrity of account records. Build strong relationships with co‑workers, management, and other departments. Manage high call volumes (average 15–20 calls per day, each lasting 15–30 minutes) with composure and professionalism. Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 2+ years in fraud or a contact center environment. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Demonstrated ability to handle tough situations with empathy and patience. Proficiency in call control and multitasking across multiple systems (e.g., debit card, check fraud). Experience with phone etiquette and member interview techniques. Analytical mindset with ownership and accountability for real‑time decision making. Comfort with handling emotionally charged conversations involving romance scams, fraud, or other sensitive topics. Team player willing to support coworkers, push morale, and share ownership. Work Arrangement & Location Hybrid position based in Live Oak, TX, within the San Antonio metro area. Compensation & Benefits Pay: $20.00 – $22.00 per hour.
