Job Overview As a Retail Sales Associate – also known as a Sales General Utility colleague – you will prioritize the Macy's shopper, bringing the brand’s magic to every customer encounter. You will help the team meet sales goals by delivering superior service from the sales floor to the fitting rooms and product presentations. What You Will Do Greet and connect with customers in a friendly, genuine way. Recommend products by asking questions to identify customer needs and inspire purchases. Offer options and solutions to customers to complete the sale. Wrap up the customer’s shopping journey, celebrating their purchases and sharing in their excitement. Master store products, services, loyalty programs, and sales systems to help customers find what they need and suggest additional items. Maintain department recovery standards, including the sales floor and fitting rooms. Deliver optimal merchandise execution presentation, ensuring accurate pricing and timely markdowns. Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships among colleagues, customers, and the community. Skills You Will Need Product Knowledge: Good understanding of the products and ability to give expert guidance based on customer wants and choices. Communication: Comfortable communicating with customers virtually, by phone, and in person. Sales: Ability to build relationships, achieve sales goals, and participate in pre-selling and sales‑boosting events. Technology: Utilize POS technology and applications to help in selling and fulfilling customer orders. Continuous Learning: Self‑driven to keep up with product knowledge, trends, and training through Macy's resources. Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills with colleagues at all levels and across departments. Collaboration: Partner with the entire team to drive sales and deliver the customer experience. Who You Are Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays with dependable attendance. Enjoy meeting people, learning about them, and sharing information. Resourceful and eager to adapt to changing priorities, working well both independently and in a team. Comfortable handling electronic devices. Can read and understand employment policies, safety rules, and procedures in English. Education and experience are not required for this position. Essential Physical Requirements Prolonged standing/walking (at least two consecutive hours) around the store or department. Frequent use of computers and handheld electronic equipment. Reaching, including above eye level, crouching, kneeling, stooping, and climbing ladders. Lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.
