Tax Analyst

Our client is currently seeking a Tax Analyst in Lake Mary, FL.

As a Tax Analyst, you will manage a robust controls environment for Global Payroll. Your role involves maintaining tax compliance with Federal, State, and local tax regulations, mitigating tax risk exposure, and acting as a catalyst for continuous improvement within the team.


Job Responsibilities:
• Manage the return-to-cash process, which includes directly contacting the IRS and state agencies to determine if checks are valid to cash, and collaborating with ADP to review responses and conclude cashability.
• Contact taxing agencies directly to discuss overpayments, request check issuance, and effectively investigate and resolve refund claims and tax notice inquiries.
• Generate and validate bi-weekly Executive Reports for on-cycle processing. Key responsibilities include extracting payroll and operational data using SQL, u pdating and maintaining Google Sheets with advanced spreadsheet formulas, and auditing check details to evaluate tax adjustment requirements prior to final sign-off.
• Perform comprehensive analysis of tax operation reports, expanding to daily execution during year-end processing cycles.
• Apply an analytical mindset to review existing workflows, identify bottlenecks, and actively design process improvements to make the team more efficient.
• Assist with employee-related payroll tax questions.
• Actively learn and implement emerging AI tools (such as Gemini) and scripting (such as Google Apps Script) to automate manual tasks and streamline data processing.
• Support Merger & Acquisition (M&A) activities by supporting account registrations and record retention.

Required Skills:
• A Bachelor's degree.
• At least three years of relevant work experience, specifically including multistate tax and large-scale system tax environments.
• Self-motivated professional capable of working effectively both as a collaborative team member and autonomously.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to interface effectively with external taxing agencies (IRS, state entities) and internal cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing deadlines and prioritize critical deliverables.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Slides) and Microsoft Office (Excel).

Preferred:
• Professional certification such as CPP or FPC.
• Proven analytical skills with the ability to look at a process end-to-end, spot inefficiencies, and execute improvements.
• A forward-thinking approach with a strong openness to adopting AI tools and new technologies to solve problems.
• Experience with accounting applications such as Workday, ADP, and HCM PeopleSoft.
