Executive Communications Specialist

Purpose of the Position The Executive Communications Specialist will collaborate with both the Office of the President and the Office of Marketing and Communications staff to plan, develop, maintain, and execute marketing and communications activities and strategies for the executive. Duties / Responsibilities Work closely with the Office of the President to plan, develop, maintain, and execute the marketing and communications strategy for the executive. Write, proofread, and edit remarks, talking points, speeches, backgrounders, press release quotes, and other products for the executive’s use. Curate the social media page (Instagram) for the Office of the President. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communications to collaborate on content that can be shared across the platform. Compile themes and messaging documents for the Office of the President’s use. Create the Presidential Pop-Up event plan and schedule. Write the routine LinkedIn newsletter with the perspectives from the Office of the President. Work with the Office of Marketing and Communications to create a video series featuring the President interviewing individuals and clubs on campus as they teach him about that topic. Collaborate with the Office of Marketing and Communications while leading the creation of the President’s annual address to the Board of Trustees, UAH Institutional Meeting, and the Presidential Advisory Committee. Attend the weekly Office of the President appearances coordination meeting. Coordinate with the Office of Marketing and Communications on Office of the President activities for inclusion in digital and print publications. Consistently evaluate the effectiveness and feedback of communications; assess and make revisions for improvement. Other duties as assigned. Additional Relationship with the UAH Office of Marketing and Communications (OMC) Adhere to the University social media policy and guidelines. Adhere to the University branding standards, writing guidelines, and procedures, and current web accessibility rules and guidelines. Maintain a cross-functional relationship with OMC with weekly check-ins and the monthly Marketers meeting. Work with the OMC graphic design team on specific design projects. Qualifications Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience. 5-7 years of full-time verifiable professional work experience in marketing or communications, including social media platforms and event planning. Experience working with executives is required. Project management experience, organization, verbal, and writing skills are required. Must have a demonstrated ability to manage projects and resources effectively and set priorities in a collaborative and service-oriented culture. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Previous experience in a College or University environment is required. Desired Qualifications A master’s degree is preferred.
