The Assistant Manager Bake Shop is dedicated to delivering exceptional baked goods while serving as the primary point of contact for the team. This role is key in overseeing daily operations, leading the production of high-quality products, and ensuring efficiency and timeliness in the creation of baked goods. The Assistant Manager Bake Shop also emphasizes fostering a positive, collaborative work environment, while holding the Bakeshop staff accountable to the highest standards of cleanliness, hospitality, and performance. In addition, the Assistant Manager Bake Shop will be instrumental in managing ordering and inventory, ensuring the accurate fulfillment of special and custom orders, and assisting in the development and introduction of new products that enhance and align with the vision of the HL Bake Shop.

Job Type: Assistant Department Manager

Schedule: Full-Time, evenings, weekends, and holidays required

Pay: $23.00-25.31/hour (previous experience taken into consideration)

Requirements

Experience

• At least 5 years baking experience in a professional kitchen
• At least 2 years management/strong supervisor experience, preferably in a professional kitchen or restaurant environment
• Experience in executing systems and procedures to provide for efficient and productive kitchen operations
• Knowledge of food procurement and inventory management
• Previous experience working with local, organic products and familiarity with standards regarding local, organic produces is preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Produces Bakeshop products and follows menu rotation as instructed
• Follows all Healthy Living recipes exactly as written
• Maintains consistent quality products and makes product to HL standards
• Follows the production numbers provided by R&D Chef
• Knows when modifications are permissible and how to properly record the changes
• Ensures all finished products are labeled appropriately and stored according to department protocol
• Follows the protocol for recording production and waste
• Maintains a meticulously clean and organized work area during a shift, and cleans work area and helps with closing duties at the end of each shift
• Maintains an in-depth knowledge of products; shares knowledge with others
• Willing and able to assist other areas as needed
• Owns and ensures accuracy of SPOs and custom orders

Leadership & Staff Management

• Lead and manage the Bakeshop team, ensuring a collaborative, positive, and high-performing environment.
• Train, mentor, and motivate Bakeshop staff, holding them accountable, provide feedback, deliver exceptional guest service, maintain cleanliness, and uphold food safety standards.
• Works with P&E to interview and hire staff
• Coordinate scheduling and staffing with the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager to ensure departments are adequately supported during busy periods.
• Support Deli/Prepared Foods Manager with stay interviews (30-day check in) with newly hired and promoted staff
• Assist Deli/Prepared Foods Manager in approving weekly timecards, processing TCCs, and weekly tips calculation spreadsheet for payroll
• Assists in the review process for staff; provides insights, feedback, and observations to the Deli/Prepared Foods Manager regarding staff's performance to assist with the completion of the review Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Inventory & Ordering

• Manage inventory within the Bakeshop
• Order supplies, ingredients, and packaging timely, balancing cost control with the need for quality and freshness.
• Reduce waste by implementing effective inventory rotation, portion control, and efficient ordering practices.
