Schedule: Full-Time | Location: Kissimmee, FL 34741 | Pay: $180,000–$200,000 per year

Job Summary

Are you a Florida-licensed Professional Surveyor & Mapper (PSM) with the experience to lead and grow an established Survey Department? KPM Franklin is seeking a Director of Surveying to lead our team and oversee the department’s technical quality, operations, financial performance, and growth.

A current Florida PSM license, or the ability to obtain Florida licensure immediately through endorsement, is required.

Qualifications – Director of Surveying

• Florida Professional Surveyor & Mapper (PSM) license required, or ability to obtain immediately through endorsement
• Strong technical experience in boundary, topographic, platting, construction surveying, and professional survey review
• Proven leadership experience managing surveying professionals, technical staff, and field crews
• Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D and modern field-to-finish survey workflows
• Strong financial and business acumen, including project budgeting, pricing, utilization, and profitability
• Strong client relationship and communication skills
• 10+ years of professional surveying experience preferred
• 5+ years of project, team, or departmental leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities – Director of Surveying

• Lead the Survey Department and oversee its day-to-day operations, staffing, workload, schedules, resources, and long-term goals.
• Serve as KPM Franklin’s senior technical authority for professional surveying matters, including professional review and signing and sealing deliverables as appropriate.
• Oversee boundary, topographic, ALTA/NSPS, subdivision plat, construction, as-built, and other professional surveying services.
• Establish and maintain QA/QC standards and ensure surveying deliverables meet Florida law, applicable Standards of Practice, client requirements, and KPM Franklin standards.
• Lead and develop the survey team , including professional, technical, office, and field staff, while establishing clear expectations and accountability.
• Own the department’s financial performance , including revenue, profitability, utilization, project budgets, staffing, and growth goals.
• Oversee surveying projects from proposal through completion and serve as a senior client contact for significant or technically complex assignments.
• Support business development and growth , including developing client relationships, preparing scopes and fee proposals, and identifying opportunities to expand surveying services.
• Champion modern surveying technology and workflows, including Civil 3D, GNSS/GPS, UAV/drone surveying, terrestrial scanning, LiDAR, and GIS .
