Job Description

The Molding Operator sets up, operates, and tends specialized equipment and machines to produce precision parts and products for the medical device industry. This role performs routine quality checks, basic assembly, packaging, labeling, and movement of product between injection molding and assembly areas. The position involves highly repetitive tasks and the use of microscopes to inspect small medical components in a cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate injection molding equipment by closing machine doors, initiating cycles, unloading molded parts, and performing basic trimming of parts.
• Perform simple assembly tasks by putting together basic plastic medical components according to work orders and production instructions.
• Conduct routine quality checks on parts and assembled products, including visual and microscope-based inspection, to ensure they meet required standards.
• Package and label finished products accurately, following established procedures and documentation requirements.
• Move product between injection molding and assembly areas in an organized and efficient manner.
• Read, understand, and follow work orders and production documentation to complete tasks correctly and on time.
• Work effectively in a highly repetitive production environment while maintaining focus, accuracy, and consistent output.
• Utilize microscopes to inspect small medical device components and identify defects or irregularities.
• Follow cleanroom protocols and maintain a very clean, controlled medical manufacturing environment.
• Communicate clearly with team members and supervisors regarding production status, issues, or quality concerns.
• Demonstrate reliable attendance and a positive attitude to support steady production and team collaboration.
• Assist with basic troubleshooting of production issues within the scope of machine operation and assembly tasks.
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and manufacturing procedures and guidelines.

Essential Skills

• Experience operating production or manufacturing machinery or equipment.
• Ability to perform repetitive tasks with consistent quality and attention to detail.
• Experience working in a cleanroom or very clean medical or manufacturing environment, or strong ability to follow cleanroom protocols.
• Ability to read and understand work orders and production documentation.
• Basic troubleshooting skills related to machine operation and production processes.
• Comfort using microscopes for inspection of small parts and components.
• Strong communication skills to interact effectively with team members and follow instructions.
• Reliable attendance and a positive, cooperative attitude.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous manufacturing experience, especially in medical or precision production, is highly helpful.
• Prior injection molding experience is not required but is a plus.
• Experience in general labor, machine operation, or assembly work in a production environment.
• Familiarity with medical manufacturing processes and standards.
• Ability to work in Class 7 and Class 8 cleanrooms and follow related procedures.
• Willingness to learn and participate in training and development opportunities.

Work Environment

The role is based in a very clean medical manufacturing environment, with assembly areas and some presses located in Class 7 and Class 8 cleanrooms. Employees work in a brand-new, state-of-the-art building that includes a comfortable break room and modern facilities. The work involves repetitive production tasks, use of microscopes for detailed inspection, and adherence to strict cleanliness and quality standards typical of medical device manufacturing.Experience

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
