Job Title Cobol Software Engineer About your role: As a Software Engineer on our Output Solutions team, you will utilize your COBOL development skills to provide operational and technical support of batch jobs related to the company’s enterprise systems to ensure they run reliably, accurately, and successfully. You will also be involved with the implementation of new technologies for innovative solutions for this area of the business. What you'll do: Maintain existing applications and troubleshoot/fix code as needed Create innovative solutions using new technologies to replace older code/systems, reduce outages, and improve efficiency Monitor and manage multiple environment systems and applications Identify production problems and find solutions in a timely manner Design and create automation to enhance functional and operational aspects of systems Identify, evaluate, recommend, and report process improvement solutions Ensure that all monitoring points and proper remediation/escalation procedures are documented Participate in 24x7 on‑call rotation and off‑hours support Experience you'll need to have: 7+ years of experience in software development 3+ years of software development experience with COBOL (using Micro Focus NetExpress or Fujitsu NetCobol or similar) 2+ years of experience with scripting languages such as bash and other linux scripting tools 2+ years of experience with distributed development (Java, C#,VB.NET, XML, and .NET framework) 2+ years of experience in SQL databases and/or VSAM files Experience that would be great to have: Experience in the financial services industry Knowledge of DevOps principles and technologies including CI/CD, Jenkins, Ansible Software versioning control using GIT, Bitbucket, or similar tools Experience with file formats (PostScript, PDF, AFP, etc.) How you’ll work: Fiserv emphasizes in‑person collaboration to help you grow your career while shaping the future of fintech; this role is on‑site Monday through Friday.
