Chemical Management Specialist II

Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks a Chemical Management Specialist II to manage chemical inventory, receive and store shipments, and ensure laboratory compliance and safety in the Unity Lab Services division. The role involves physical material handling, inventory audits, and adherence to DOT and environmental health regulations in a laboratory setting.

Responsibilities

• Verify chemical inventory levels, locations, and expiration dates using barcode scanners and bench audits
• Receive, inspect, label, and store incoming chemical shipments per compatibility and DOT guidelines
• Pick, pack, and stage chemical orders for distribution or disposal with 100% accuracy
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in chemical handling, storage, or inventory records
• Collaborate with Environmental Health & Safety and team members to maintain safety standards and train new staff

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 1 year customer-service experience in laboratory, warehouse, or similar environment
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications (Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Ability to read and interpret Safety Data Sheets and DOT labeling requirements
• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and safety-first mindset
• Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
• Capacity to lift and handle 30–40 lbs regularly, up to 50 lbs occasionally

Compensation: $19.64–$24.40 hourly; $23.90/hr stated in posting
