POSITION MISSION
The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of restaurant performance, including financial results, guest experience, operational execution, and team development. This role owns the success of the bakery by delivering strong business outcomes while building and developing high-performing teams.

In alignment with Bagel Brands' Mission, Vision, and Values, the General Manager leads with a focus on taking ownership, supporting their team, having fun, and obsessing over the guest-while developing future leaders and creating a culture of accountability and growth.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Business Performance & Operational Ownership
• Own overall restaurant performance across sales, people, operations, and controllable profit.
• Manage the restaurant P&L, including revenue, labor, food cost, and controllable expenses, leveraging available and required reporting tools (Period Business Reviews, Declining Budget, etc.).
• Develop and execute plans to achieve sales goals, manage costs, and drive profitability.
• Monitor performance trends and take proactive action to address gaps and improve results.
• Ensure accurate financial reporting, cash handling, and compliance with company standards.
Labor, Inventory & Financial Management
• Build and manage labor schedules to balance business needs, team member experience, and labor targets.
• Oversee inventory management, ordering, and product usage to minimize waste and control costs.
• Ensure accurate product ordering, receiving, and inventory tracking.
• Maintain accountability for controllable expenses and drive efficiency across all areas of the business.
Guest Experience & Operational Excellence (Guest Obsessed)
• Ensure a consistent, high-quality guest experience through strong execution of brand standards.
• Address guest concerns quickly and professionally, ensuring positive resolution.
• Maintain high standards for food quality, safety, cleanliness, and overall restaurant environment.
• Ensure operational execution meets company expectations for service, product quality, and cleanliness.
• Lead by example by working in all areas of the restaurant and supporting the team during peak periods.
• Sustain all 5S and Brand Standards to maximize efficiency and deliver a consistent guest experience that aligns with being Guest Obsessed.
Team Leadership & Development
• Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team, including District Shift Leaders, Shift Leaders, Bakers, and Team Members.
• Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and performance management to ensure team effectiveness and accountability.
• Ensure clear expectations are set and consistently reinforced across the team.
• Develop District Shift Leaders and Shift Leaders through hands-on coaching, delegation, and exposure to business operations.
Talent Development & Succession Planning
• Build a strong internal talent pipeline by identifying and developing team members for advancement into leadership roles.
• Own talent outcomes within the restaurant, including retention, engagement, and readiness for promotion.
• Drive strong onboarding and early tenure experiences to support team member retention.
• Partner with District Managers to assess talent, identify gaps, and build succession plans.
• Reinforce leadership expectations aligned with Bagel Brands' Leadership Competencies.
People Management & Culture
• Create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team environment aligned with Bagel Brands' Mission, Vision, and Values.
• Ensure fair and consistent application of company policies, procedures, and employment practices.
• Lead scheduling, payroll, hiring, and employee relations in partnership with field leadership.
• Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and support across the team.
Compliance, Safety & Standards
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, food safety standards, and local, state, and federal regulations.
• Maintain a safe work environment for team members and guests.
• Ensure all operational procedures, documentation, and reporting are completed accurately and on time.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & EXPERIENCE
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
• 3+ years of customer service experience, with at least 1 year of management experience.
• Experience managing restaurant operations, including financials, labor, and inventory.
• Strong understanding of P&L management and cost control.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop team members.
• Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This role requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, work in a fast-paced restaurant environment, and lift, carry, and move up to 50 pounds. The role may involve exposure to heat, cold, and typical kitchen and restaurant conditions. These requirements may be met with or without reasonable accommodation.
