Location : Hawthorne Valley Farm Store is seeking both full-time and part-time Kitchen Hands to join our Kitchen Team at our store in Ghent, NY.


Pay : This is an hourly role and pays between $16 - $19

The Role

At Hawthorne Valley, we are committed to caring for our customer. We are looking for both part-time and full-time Kitchen Hands to prepare attractive, healthy dishes for our natural foods deli and assist the Chef in daily kitchen operations. If you are someone who enjoys food preparation and you have a knack for friendly customer service this role is for you!

Full time and part time hours availible, ability to work weekends a must. This role requires comfort working alone or with coworkers, and members of the public on a daily basis, as well as a positive, respectful presence that reflects Hawthorne Valleys values.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintains hot & cold lines.
• Pull old or low-quality items, record and properly dispose of them, following established procedures.
• Maintain kitchen and retail display areas in sanitary and orderly condition, following guidelines set by Chef, Sous Chef, or Shift Supervisor in their absence.
• Clean up spills, take out trash as needed.
• Follow safety, storage and labeling procedures.
• Advise Chef of equipment repair and replacement needs.
• Ensure high standards of customer service to assist customers and co-workers.
• Attend department and storewide meetings.
• Maintain professional demeanor, including clean & neat attire.
• Perform other tasks assigned by Chef or Shift Supervisor in their absence.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

• Ability to lift 50 lbs.
• Manual dexterity with hazardous equipment.
• Ability to stand for long periods.
• Ability to work in close quarters with other people.

• Willingness and ability to learn and grow to meet the changing requirements of the job.

DESIRED:

• Experience cooking for deli, restaurant, or catering.
• Working knowledge of natural, organic, vegetarian and other specialty cuisines, with understanding of various dietary restrictions.
