Clinical Pharmacist

Overview Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital is hiring a Clinical Pharmacist for the Inpatient Pharmacy team. The position is full‑time (40 hrs/wk) with a rotating shift of days and evenings, and occasional overnight duties. A $15,000 sign‑on bonus is offered to qualified candidates. Location: Charlottesville, VA. Responsibilities Provide safe, effective, and prompt pharmacy services, managing patient drug therapy in accordance with clinical practice standards. Ensure appropriateness of all provider medication orders and maintain a high level of patient care and safety. Maintain current knowledge of medication use and disease states relevant to the assigned area. Serve as the primary resource for drug information and education, providing in‑depth patient counseling when required. Participate in training of new employees and precept pharmacy students as assigned. Assume local responsibility and ownership for assigned tasks, following policies and procedures consistently. Seek additional training opportunities and stay abreast of new and changing information for assigned areas. Demonstrate superior customer service, effective communication, decision‑making, and organization. Act as a role model in professionalism, collaboration, and teamwork. Ensure adequate supplies are available for continuous patient care, triage and escalating any questions or issues outside the scope of practice as needed. Use appropriate systems for processing patient information and maintain quality assurance as per departmental and legal requirements. Operate pharmacy equipment appropriately and manage the medication‑use system comprehensively. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy (required); Doctorate in Pharmacy (preferred). Virginia pharmacist license (required). Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required); Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred). Previous clinical experience (preferred).
