Job Responsibilities and Requirements

Standard Security Life (SSL) is a leading provider of New York Disability Benefit Law (DBL) and statutory paid family leave (PFL) insurance. SSL is a division of Reliance Matrix and a member of the Tokio Marine Group.

The Senior Business Analyst for SSL will work internally and with external vendors to monitor, review and reconcile transactions between the Company’s policy administrative system(s), the general ledger and the bank accounts while ensuring overall data integrity of the Company’s premium, claim and commission transactions. This role will also support the evaluation, execution and expansion of automation, analytics and artificial intelligence tools that improve company processes, strengthen controls and enhance decision support.

The Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for the completion of data related regulatory filings to the Company’s regulator(s).

The Senior Business Analyst will also be involved in the design and implementation of future applications, training, change requests and problem reports. They will collaborate with IT and management in other departments (Claims, Underwriting, Financial, etc.) to determine the appropriate functionality and integration of while ensuring current and future business requirements are met.

In addition, the Senior Business Analyst will help identify practical AI and automation use cases across SSL Finance and related functions, assist in defining requirements and success measures, coordinate with business and technology partners, and support adoption through testing, training, documentation and ongoing monitoring.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serves as the liaison to IT for all SSL Administrative system related issues.

• Investigates user concerns identifies problems, makes recommendations for resolution and collaborates with IT to implement the fix/change.

• Seeks user feedback related to system efficiency and functionality and requests system changes and enhancements, as appropriate.

• Attends regular meetings with managers from Underwriting, Claims, IT, Financial, etc. to determine the priority of recommended changes/enhancements.

• Chairs System meetings as necessary to provide feedback to the SSL Management Team regarding system performance, development and status.

• Maintains users security and authority changes and additions as necessary.

• Regularly meets with managers to discuss new procedures, system enhancements, etc.

• Shares information or problems and provides a forum for team building.

• Maintains consistent company process and regulatory compliance through appropriate staff communication and training.

• Identifies opportunities to use automation, analytics and AI-enabled tools to reduce manual effort, improve reconciliation accuracy, strengthen exception reporting and increase timeliness of financial and operational insights.

• Partners with Finance, IT, Claims, Underwriting and other stakeholders to document AI and automation business requirements, define expected outcomes, support prioritization and coordinate implementation activities.

• Supports data readiness activities for AI-enabled solutions, including source-system analysis, data mapping, exception identification, validation routines and documentation of data limitations or control considerations.

• Assists in testing, monitoring and validating AI or automation outputs to ensure results are accurate, explainable, appropriately controlled and aligned with business requirements before and after deployment.

• Completes regulatory data filings with regulatory authorities as required.

• Maintains documentation of AI-enabled workflows, automation rules, data transformations, process controls and user procedures to support auditability, regulatory compliance and operational continuity.

• Develops and delivers user guidance, job aids and training materials to promote effective adoption of new systems, AI-enabled tools, dashboards and process changes.

• Completes special projects as assigned by management.

• Assumes additional responsibilities as needed.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Related Experience

• Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a business analyst.

• Experience with process improvement, data analysis, reporting, workflow automation or AI-enabled business tools preferred.

• Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and function with limited supervision.
• Proven ability to work well in a high visibility, public oriented environment, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven ability to effectively participate in sales presentations and customer meetings.
• Proven ability to work with the following equipment: personal computer programs (e-mail, Microsoft Word and Excel, etc.). Ability to use any or all of this equipment to track, measure and improve performance.
• Working knowledge of data visualization, query, reporting or AI-assisted productivity tools, with the ability to evaluate outputs, identify exceptions and communicate findings to business stakeholders.
• Proven ability to engage in presentations and deliver training.

Ability to Travel: Up to 10%

The expected hiring range for this position is $100,310.00 - $133,890.00 annually for work performed in the primary location (New York, NY). This expected hiring range covers only base pay and excludes any other compensation components such as commissions or incentive awards. The successful candidate’s starting base pay will be based on several factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Work location may be flexible if approved by the Company.
