Pay Rate: $40.00–$50.00 per hour (Based on Experience)
Employment Type: Contract (12 Months) | Potential Temp-to-Perm
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Role Overview

BEPC Inc. is seeking an experienced QC Lead Scientist to support our client's analytical quality control laboratory in Round Rock, TX.

In this role, you will perform and lead complex analytical testing, investigate laboratory issues, support analytical method development and validation, and ensure compliance with established quality and safety standards.

The ideal candidate has a strong background in analytical chemistry, quality control testing, technical investigations, and laboratory instrumentation , along with the ability to independently troubleshoot complex analytical challenges and provide technical guidance to other analysts.

You will play an important role in maintaining laboratory quality, improving analytical processes, and supporting the development and testing of new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform analytical testing of finished products, raw materials, in-process samples, and custom analytical projects using approved methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Independently lead complex quality control activities and provide technical guidance to laboratory analysts.
• Develop and execute investigation strategies for Out-of-Specification (OOS) results, including root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and preparation of detailed investigation reports.
• Lead or participate in analytical method development, optimization, validation, and technical studies.
• Troubleshoot complex analytical issues and recommend appropriate corrective actions or process improvements.
• Perform analytical instrument qualification, calibration, verification, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Interpret analytical data and evaluate results to ensure accuracy, reliability, and compliance with quality requirements.
• Lead or support laboratory process improvements, procedural updates, and implementation of new analytical methods.
• Prepare and maintain accurate technical documentation, including laboratory records, SOPs, investigation reports, validation documentation, and training materials.
• Support laboratory quality systems and compliance with applicable ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ISO 17034 requirements.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, workspaces, and documentation in a state of audit readiness.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve technical challenges and support product development activities.
• Provide technical training, mentorship, and guidance to other laboratory personnel.
• Follow applicable laboratory safety procedures, including requirements for hazardous chemical handling and controlled substances.
• Promote a safe, organized, and quality-focused laboratory environment.

Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Chemistry or a related life science discipline .
• For candidates with a Bachelor's or Master's degree: At least 4 years of relevant professional experience .
• PhD candidates may qualify without prior professional work experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of analytical testing methods and interpretation of analytical results.
• Experience performing analytical testing in a laboratory or related scientific environment.
• Ability to independently troubleshoot complex analytical problems and develop effective investigation strategies.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical investigations, resolving analytical issues, or providing technical guidance to laboratory personnel.
• Strong understanding of laboratory quality systems, documentation requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and ISO 17034 requirements.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to prepare technical documentation, including SOPs, investigation reports, validation reports, and training materials.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and commitment to laboratory safety and quality.

Preferred:

• Experience working in a GLP, GMP, or ISO-regulated laboratory .
• Previous experience in a pharmaceutical, medical device, clinical, or related regulated industry.
• Experience leading OOS investigations , including root cause analysis and technical report preparation.
• Hands-on experience with analytical method development, validation, and laboratory instrument qualification.
• Experience mentoring or providing technical guidance to QC analysts.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Demonstrated ability to identify opportunities for process optimization and laboratory efficiency improvements.

Work Environment and Safety Requirements:

• Ability to work in a laboratory environment involving hazardous chemicals and processing equipment.
• Willingness to work with substances that may include flammable solvents, corrosive chemicals, carcinogens, and dioxins.
• Ability to follow established chemical handling, storage, and disposal procedures.
• Compliance with all required personal protective equipment (PPE) policies, which may include laboratory coats, gloves, safety glasses, face shields, respirators, and other protective equipment as required.
